Lmao, how.

XXX - McDavid - XXX
XXX - Draisaitl - XXX
XXX - RNH - XXX
Khaira - XXX - XXX

Klefbom - XXX
Nurse - Larsson
Russell - XXX

Quite a task isn’t it...lol.

Honestly just put Draisaitl at 1RW and RNH at 2C...that’s how it’ll go. Kassian gets a spot a 4Rw, all teams have guys like that in those spots. Lucic sucks but that contract isn’t going away. The biggest issue for me is that we need 3 top 6 wingers, 1 for McDavid and 2 for Nuge...the rest is whatever.

Lucic most definitely. Both he and MacT coveted him but Chia really wanted him.

The Hall trade is a bit more complicated beacause IMO the OBC soured on him. The lack of getting additional assets however was all on Chia.

The Griff trade SCREAMS OBC. Lowe's son played with him, Green loved him and wen to bat for him.

The rest of the trades IMO were more at his discretion and we know how they panned out.

I don't buy it on the Hall trade, once Lucic was signed, one of the $6 million guys had to go and Hall or RNH were the only two with serious value. Eberle does not get you even Cody Ceci. Lucic-Larsson was his "solution" to the Oilers problems and always an inter-wined deal.

That was his "master plan" move. That's all him.

Even if he didn't get Griffin Reinhart, he would've taken Eriksson-Ek ... who has 2 goals this year.

So we'd be in the same exact spot.

Those were his signature moves for this team, and his signature vision was a slow, heavy, lower skill team. He wanted that, he got it.

I'd say MacT >>> Chia in most areas tbh. The one thing Chia has over MacT is hiring more proven coaches, but otherwise I don't see how Chia > MacT in any other way.

That's a mighty low bar to clear. IMO drafting and development would be in Chia's favor but both blow.

Agree to disagree.

Disturbing isn't it?

Pretty much.

Yes he did and here we are.

I'd actually say the drafting and especially the development have been equal if not worse.

Puljujaarvi and Yamamoto are struggling to look even like bottom 6ers at this point.

I don't disagree. I guess you have to give development to Chia, but that's a part of coaching imo. Drafting it's hard to tell, because a lot of MacT's picks are just starting to pay dividends, and I'd say many others were good picks ruined by bad development. Anyways, yeah both are horrible. Let's hope the next guy knows what he's doing lol.

I hate MacT, but sorry man Chiarelli was a whole another level of bad. Were talking historical levels. One of the worst 4 year tenures in sports history. It's like he came in here to sabotage the team 4 days after the Oilers won the McDavid lottery. His track record with trades is unbelievable. You have to pinch yourself to really believe what just happened. At then end he just swipes his hands clean and walks away a free man with millions in the bank and a nice big vacation on a beach.

Yes he did and here we are.

He built this team and wasn't forced or coerced into it. He wanted this, this is his grand vision, and reality called him back (and Oiler fans) and said "No. Lucic + Larsson around McDavid is not the foundation for a winning franchise".

That's all that happened.

He took the risk, it blew up in his face.

Benson, Jones, Bear, Bouchard, etc.

Jesse was rushed as has Yamo.

MacT led this team down this road.

If he signs petry instead of the horsesh*t bridge deal, they don't deal hall, Eberle gets dealt for a larsson type guy instead

They maybe don't win the McDavid lottery though if that happens. Signing Petry wasn't as big of a loss as its made out to be because they basically signed Sekera to that exact same contract a few months later and he's basically a fairly equivalent player. Too bad he got hurt.

So, here's the skeleton:

X - Mcdavid - Drai
X - Nuge - X
X - X - X
Khaira - X - X

Klefbom - X
Nurse - Larsson
X - X

After a 2 year retool (draft Cozens/Dach in 2019 and Holtz in 2020). 2020-21 season: (*means signed in FA)

Holtz - Mcdavid - Drai
Nuge - Cozens/Dach - Yamo
X*/Benson - Pageau* - X*
Khaira - X* - X*

Klefbom - Bouchard
Nurse - Larsson
Jones - X*

Use Puljujarvi + picks + retention to get Seattle to bite on the Lucic contract.

You have a hypothetical 2020 draft pick playing on the first line as a rookie and a hypothetical 2019 draft pick as your 2C. Have you learnt no lessons from our previous rushing of prospects? Not to mention it's completely pointless to project a draft pick 2 years into the future.

I think the big question is do they keep Puljujarvi and hope he develops or move him for a young, but more likely to contribute player and cut bait before he goes full Yakupov?

"Our GM whose the worst in the league is worse than our previous GM that was also worst in the league"

Since 2011, Kharia and Gustafsson are the two best players outside the first round who are consistent NHL players.

Jones and Bear are nice, but they aren't established. Just pitiful draft history.

Rumour has it when Chiarelli got home last night - the movers were already there packing his belongings/furniture along with Canadian officials ready to escort him to the border, and to revoke his Canadian citizenship...

That is the big question. I'm thinking whoever they hire as GM will need to make that one of his first decisions.

McTavish drafted Nurse, Draisaitl outside the first overall pick

can you please let me now which one of Chiarelli's big draft picks are working wonders for us. Please go ahead.

don't include 97. That doesn't count.
