*Callahan's agent.

We don't know if Callahan is personally involved in the negotiations. I would doubt it considering we're in season.

Think it's unfair to put any blame on Callahan here. He'll get that money. The blame is on Sather for offering 6x$6 in the first place, and even letting Callahan remotely believe that they can negotiate passed that number, which shouldn't even be on the table in the first place.

Trade him, or tell him he's not signing here for more than 5 years, $5.5 per, and he can walk in July. That's the move. That 5x$5.5 is still a contract I wouldn't be comfortable giving Callahan, to be completely honest.

30 is certainly not a hockey player's prime.

Depends on the player. Statistically speaking, that'd seem highly accurate; most guys have their best years mid-20's.
Same time, not everything is statistics; players mature and gain experience and their total game can round out later in their careers; a guy may have lesser numbers but higher impact knowing how & when to pace himself, and when to strike when it matters most.

Messier (who granted, was a freak), but he was 32 when he got to NY.

I'll give you another more recent example, though from a smaller sampling. Dan Carcillo seems to be really growing into a better, more mature version of himself. he's been productive while keeping what makes him most effective.

Wherever I'm standing atm
Time is precious in negotiations. The deadline is Wednesday, not today.

Just a joke. I realized I was checking in fully expecting to see a trade or something and then it hit me I was literally following the definition of insanity... as I'm sure many are. It was an amusing realization. Thge deadline is the Olympics, oh St Louis trade asap...ok well they gt get back from Sochi first...ok Girardi maybe being traded, ok girardi deal, ok callahan 99.9% traded...ok both sides capitulating on demands...insane I say!

You mean hour after hour

You are right sir

You lost me... Who is this? Spezza has 46 points this year. Richards leads our team with 44 and everyone wants him bought out after this year.

Bought out because of his contract. All things being equal, I'd love for him to return next year, but it's too much of a risk because of his contract.

I am going against the grain and do not think Cally will be signed unless he drops to Girardi numbers and forces Sather's hand. No way, even a month ago, could the Rangers have moved on without causing a significant fan/future potential player uneasiness about organization loyalty. AV wants more skill and this situation is the perfect cover. Cally's agent gets the blame along with the CBA. I have a feeling the organization wants to move on and have created the perfect scenario to do it without much negative repercussion. Out on a limb but a strong hunch.

He deserves that money..it's not always about stats in hockey...the guy is the heart and soul of the rangers and will do what ever it takes (on ice) to help this team win.. I mean..would you block a Chara slap shot on purpose?

But it doesn't mean the rangers have to give him that money

I appreciate the heart, but he isn't the only one who has heart. I think Girardi and McDonagh would step in front of a Chara slap shot, and both probably have.

Insider Trading, pls

Lebrun says Callahan thinks the next move should come from the Rangers, and the Rangers won't budge off 6x6

Good, keep waiting. Hope the Rangers don't move. No game until Wednesday night.

Get him out of here. Sucks casino night was tonight, would have preferred him to not be anywhere near Glen, as I'm assuming he attends.
