If we get fowler we cant protect beaulieu Doesn't seem worth it to give up beaulieu plus the amount of assets it will take to acquire fowler.

:handclap::handclap:Finally, somebody gets it! We will add a dman on an expiring contract at the TDL if we are in it and need a dman. No need for Fowler right now unless we are trading Beau.

I remember reading somewhere (can't remember where) that Ducks had interest in Victor Mete (Habs' 4th round LD from this year). He impressed at development camp a couple of weeks ago. It's possible that he would be part of the deal for Fowler.

I'm not sure we have the pieces necessary to pull this trade off.

Probably wishful thinking.

The Habs aren't a very good trading partner with Anaheim for Fowler IMO. Plus like others have said if we take on Fowler we can't protect Beaulieu in the expansion.

For better or worse this is going to be Beaulieu's year. He's either going to breakout and solidify his spot in our top 4 or he's going to falter.

For sure. Not when you're hearing players like JVR possibly going the other way for Fowler. We don't have a player of that caliber to give up.

Move Desharnais for Scott Hartnell.

He's the second line winger with size and toughness that the Habs need.

Something around Desharnais and a pick for Hartnell.

Trade the 2017 1st rounder, Andrighetto and another piece for Fowler.

Move Emelin if possible.

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Radulov
Hartnell - Plekanec - Gallagher
Carr - Danault - Shaw
Byron - Mitchell - McCarron

Fowler - Weber
Markov - Petry
Beaulieu - Pateryn

McCaron will never develop his offensive game if he plays on a 4th line. He should NEVER be put in that position. Its not because he has size that we need to turn him into a **** player. Put him in a better role if you want him to progress.

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Radulov
Hartnell - Plekanec - Gallagher
Carr - McCaron - Shaw
Mitchell - Danault - Byron

Is much more better for McCaron and for our team.

Best thing for McCarron is another year in the AHL. He's not ready yet and we shouldn't rush him.
We can play Danault as our 3rd C is we trade out DD.

If we let Beaulieu go for nothing in the expansion draft it will be nobody's fault but out own. Beaulieu is easily one of our most tradeable assets, I'd imagine he'd be gone in the trade for Fowler in the first place.

Anaheim wants to trade Fowler since they can't protect him. No chance they take Beaulieu who they would just lose in the expansion draft.

Exactly. That's why we simply aren't good trading partners.

They'd be looking for Gallagher so they don't have to protect 4 d-men.. And I think we can all agree that's a non starter?

Mccarron doesn't have any offensive game to begin with...

That is not true at all... unless you think "offensive game" is just about skills and dangles... he's not quick by any means but fast enough in a straight line to play with anybody... decent hands, decent shot, he's tough, solid 2-way game and a willingness to play the way he should (lots of players blessed with great size and strength are gonna take years to figure out their game, some never do... he knows his role already and that's what is gonna make him a very valuable player in the long run), whether he deflects a puck for a goal or not deflect it makes no difference as his job is to make sure the opposing goalie can't see pucks coming at him and is uncomfortable whenever mac truck is on the ice... you don't need that much skills when you know how to play to make a contribution

How about:

:sens
Mike Hoffman

:habs
Daniel Carr
2017 3rd round pick

Habs bring Hoffman to arbitration and then make adjustments to roster for salary cap purposes.
