Oil fan coming in peace. Just wondering about Nuge for Spurgeon if salary is an issue in the Dumba based deals. Also want Haula, what would have to be added?

Nuge + ??? lands Spurgeon and Haula?

RNH = Spurgeon, but I don't think the Wild want to trade Spurge. Management likes him too much, and he is playing well on our first pairing.

Haula now has a lot of value for the Wild. Part of it is his paltry cap hit. Fletcher can't get a guy who does what he does for 1M.

Long and short of it is that Haula would be a no go together with Spurgeon. Wild would have to send something back worth about 800-900K to even out the salaries in any trade. If it was something like a Folin it would be a lower draft pick. Something more valuable, a higher one. I could be wrong, but I don't think they'd let Haula go even for a first.

Wild would actually have to send back closer to $2M to even out the salaries.

I agree about Spurgeon though. If he was available for RNH, I think it would've happened already.

RNH - 6M

Spurgeon- 5.2M( approx)

There are still lots of teams interested in trading for Dmen, particularly RHD. Oilers, Bruins, Wings, Lightening, Avs, Habs, etc.

Those teams also have a good amount of young, talented forwards to grab. It will be a failure if Fletcher doesn't get one or two back in a trade.

Coming around on trading Scandella. We need his size and strength, but Reilly and Olofsson could be our bottom-4 LHD as soon as next season.

If Scandella goes, 2nd pair LHD is Brodin.

Suter26min - Dumba (20)
Brodin(20) - Spurgeon (24)
Reilly(14) - Prosser (16)
Olofsson - Folin

Then wait until one of Reilly/Dumba fails or goes beast and trade accordingly.

I might be more extreme than this.

Scandella and Dumba both are traded. One for top-6 center. One for top-6 RW.

Nino-Haula/Staal-Pominville

For example, Detroit really needs defensemen

Scandella, Dumba, Haula, and Zucker for Larkin, Nyquist, and Ouellet.

That's how you overpay to get a great young center. You make an offer that practically forces the other team to take it.

Parise-Larkin-Coyle
Granlund-Koivu-Nyquist
Nino-Staal-Pominville

Larkin is Detroit's best chance for elite forward talent in the post-Datsyuk/Zetterberg era. The only defensemen that could maybe even get a conversation started are guys like Ekblad, Doughty, Hedman, and those of that ilk.

Like others said already, i don't think that is enough to bring Larkin to Minnesota.

The way i see it:

Scandella=Nyquist,Ouellet

And I don't think Larkin gets traded when biggest piece coming back is Dumba. While Zucker and Haula are nice players to have in your middle-six, they are not that valuable to tip the scale for Detroit to make that trade.

Btw, hello all!

I'm long time lurker here in Hf, especially here in Minnesota section. I have been watching Wild pretty closely for 4 years now, approximately 20 games a year. I don't consider myself a fan, yet, but this is clearly my favorite team in NHL and I wish them all the best

Welcome!! :handclap::handclap:

And I am on board for trading Scandella as well, if we do trade one. Need to think through a proposal but he would be the one I choose.

Thing is I wouldn't trade Scandella for Nyquist and Ouellet, so I am valuing Larkin at

Dumba + Haula + Zucker + (Scandella - Nyquist - Ouellet).

Thanks!

And I agree with you on that one. If Minnesota is looking to trade dman, I think Scandella is your best option. You know what you have in him, which is a fine 3/4.
His value is pretty high right now and I don't see it rising anymore, but it could drop as soon as next year. So trading him you would likely to get the best possible value out of him.

Talking about other dmen. Brodin's value dipped a little this season, but id like to think that he has a good next season and his value would rise again. So this wouldn't be the best time to trade him.

Dumba's situation is little tougher. He shares opinions so much. Others thinks he has potential to be top2 offensive dynamo and some think that he will never be nothing more than a bottom pairing pp specialist. Given Minnesota's lack of depth in RHD and Dumba's potential, I think you need to keep him

And everybody knows that Spurgeon is going nowhere, right ;)

So, Scandella for goal scoring C or RW.. but whom, I don't know.

You all need to get off the RNH train - there will be better options down the road, either internally or through trade/free agency.

Because you still have to replace the guy making 800-900K. In your example of Spurgeon+Folin for RNH, the Wild move out about $5.9M and take in $6M. Seems like a wash until you call up Reilly or Gustafsson at 800-900K to replace Folin.
