CBJ has to, I said the same thing- they need to get a Duchene or whatever and hope they can go deep in the playoffs..Panarin isn't getting traded now, so this is their home run swing.

So CBJ is going for it. They were in an interesting spot. Wonder if they are signing Duchense as part of this.
Report just came out saying Duchene wasn’t willing to re-sign, but it’s apparently changed in recent days.

I also think the Jackets are still considering moving Panarin to recoup the assets they’re giving up here.

Columbus is in a miserable spot with their rentals. Both are guaranteed to walk and they punt their season if they move either or both. But they’re also not a top 3 contender to win the cup. Not a fun spot for Jarmo.

This seems like a reasonable outcome. Trade Panarin for assets, use said assets to acquire Duchene in a sign and trade. So effectively it becomes a 3 way deal.

Bob is not a guarantee to walk

He hasn't said anything about not wanting to be in Columbus even thru this difficult year. Its still very possible they can find agreement in offseason

After they suspended him from team for violating conduct and Tallon ready to drive a brinks truck to his agent’s office, figure he’s done there after this year.

This trade looks really good for Ottawa if that Duchene re-signs with Columbus.

Those are both B level prospects, but adding 2 first round picks would be a great return.

Two firsts plus a couple of ok prospects? Not a terrible return, depending on if Duchene resigns in Columbus. Does anyone actually expect him to, though?

Love the trade for both teams. Great return for ottawa and have to love Columbus just having the balls to pull the trigger in some uncertain times.

seems like a ****ty group of prospects coming back to say the least, considering Ottawa likely gave up Hughes to get Duchene lol...
Ignoring the initial trade for Duchene which was terrible, this is probably the best return they could have hoped for. The prospects aren't very good but if they end up with 2 1sts for a "rental", that's pretty good.

It also sets the market for Stone and now Panarin is likely off the block too.

Also, Wennberg was not included in this trade.

So my Anisimov offer is still on the table.
