Maybe they could also fold the franchise and get an expansion club for the 2017 season. Let's start the next century right...

It would Probably be leafs vs bruins or leafs vs hawks. Kane and Toews will be leafs by then so the ladder should be interesting.

Besides the 2016-2017 season being the 100th anniversary season for the Leafs and one main reason why they deserve to host a Winter Classic, here is another reason for them to host it. Teams who previously played in a Winter Classic as the road team, have all gone on to host a Winter Classic.

Pittsburgh: Road team in 2008, hosted in 2011.

Detroit: Road team in 2009, hosted in 2014.

Philadelphia: Road team in 2010, hosted in 2012.

Washington: Road team in 2011, hosting in 2015.

So if Toronto doesn't get to host a Winter Classic how can the NHL justify having those teams host one when they were previously in them as the road team?

Really? Because THAT's how it works?!

I'd ****ing LOVE to see Leafs vs Hawks, but only if the Leafs turn into a contending team. I want Good Leafs vs Good Hawks, not **** Leafs vs Good Hawks.

a little OT sort of but i really hope the event at dogers stadium is poorly attended and gets negative press. honestly, sales can not be going well if the NHL is discounting the same.

i think it is a stupid idea to have a hockey game outside on a day that has highs of 24 degrees....

hoping for a heat wave in LA.

BMO field will be at around 40,000 capacity by 2017, that's the plan. Game would probably be against Habs or Sens

That's not big enough for an NFL Team which must be, and should be, the ultimate goal here.

So it's going to cost something between 60-120 million to renovate the stadium, and the government is going to pay?
No be else has a problem with is?

TFC doesn't need a larger stadium, they don't sell out now.
Argos have a very limited fan base that shows up
Rugby? Is there a massive need for this, can they not play at varsity, York or the cricket grounds?

Don't waste tax dollars on a one time event, that will be wasted almost all the time.

Just figure out a way to do it in the sky dome.

Except those tax dollars will create hundreds of jobs (if not more) for people over the next 3-4 years because of the infrastructure investment in the stadium.

That's how the government does things

this is a joke right? your off in la la land if you think that expansion of BMO field to 40000 people so that MLSE can get more $$$$ in revenue is going to make that many jobs.

if MLSE wants to expand BMO field...they have MORE THAN ENOUGH money to do so. please...your comment is absurd.

Shouldn't MLSE actually have an NHL caliber team before they ask to host the Winter Classic? :naughty:
