Save us Holmberg. Become an Andreas Johnsson level winger next year. Could use a cheap 40 points to replace Hyman who's probably going to snake us and chase money despite his personal wealth

Good to sign him early. Could be a solid all-around bottom 6 guy for the Leafs at some point.

Would be nice to get a late round star for once

Hopefully he can be that for us

Another late-round Swedish pick earns an ELC.

Its almost like Thommie Bergman knows what he's doing.
He has quite an impressive track record. A potentially solid third or fourth liner as a 6th round pick is quite valuable given our cap stressed situation

Yeah, I actually put together the track record. If you exclude Lindgren (who will probably bust but may still have an outside shot at making the Pens) and Holmberg (being just signed), Bergman and our Swedish staff have hit on 9 of their last 13 picks. That's a 70% hit rate.

Last 15 Swedish picks, third round or later (bold played in NHL):

2018 - Pontus Holmberg
2016 - Carl Grundstrom
2015 - Jesper Lindgren
2015 - Dmytro Timashov
2014 - Pierre Engvall
2013 - Andreas Johnsson
2012 - Viktor Loov

2011 - Tom Nilsson
2010 - Sondre Olden
2010 - Pettar Granberg
2010 - Daniel Brodin
2007 - Carl Gunnarsson
2006 - Viktor Stalberg

2005 - Johan Dahlberg
2005 - Anton Stralman

Sure why not, I wouldn't get my hopes up until we see him play. I remember many here acting like Lehtonen was gonna be a solid addition for us and he played all of 9 games.

Good luck kid, this fan base needs some guys to come threw for once.

What does his current personal wealth have to do with what he signs for? Players are worth what the market will pay, why would they take a discount? No one else in our "core" did, why would he? Oh I forgot, he's rich so he should sacrifice career earnings for us. SMH

I would leave if I were him. Hyman gives 120% on the ice while our core doesn’t. Plus our core didn’t take any discount so why should he.

He was also named "Swedish forward of the year" for the SHL, Playoff MVP and won the championship.

Not bad at all. However he's 22 yrs old and will be expected to produce for the Marlies right away assuming he doesn't crack the leafs bottom 6.

He's described as a speedy playmaker who needs to work on his shooting...... sounds familiar.

Ignoring the mocking comments by people which is a bad look for those users, Holmberg has steadly improved each year before breaking out on the playoffs. His IQ extremely high.
