I don't think this has any effect on that. We don't know which of the 2 options (7-3-1 vs 8-1) the Leafs will pick yet. It depends on roster acquisitions, how Carrick/Marincin play this year and if any expansion eligible young forwards progress more than expected.

Garrett Sparks is eligible for the expansion draft as well to fulfill the goalie requirement.

He comes with a guarantee to finish last!

Good signing.

The leafs needed a backup that was nhl ready and could do a good job if needed. Some of their younger goalies like Sparks just weren't nhl ready last year although they showed some potential. At $750,000 that is a great deal for a backup even if it doesn't work out as it is easy to move or bury.

We were hoping for Enroth unless he asked for too much money. This is not too much money for us.

Right now we will roll with Dell until the deadline. If Dell can't do it, we make a trade at the deadline

IMHO a team who just went to the Cup finals going into the season with a 1 full season started who was forced to play way too many games should not be going in with a question mark backup. The Sharks should try to move us a player like Wingles may for Miller at 3 million. A swap of cap hits if I'm not mistaken for you guys Wingles is 3.3? Or was it 2.8?

Enroth would have made sense, aren't the Sharks fairly decent on cap room for depth players right now? 750K seems easily manageable money.

Boo! I was looking forward to watching Garret Sparks more, he was horrifically bad. It was funny to watch though.

Enroth isn't replacement level, he certainly isn't very good either though. Last year was the best in his career, but a .905-.910 goaltender isn't putrid as long as he doesn't play too many games. Backups like Enroth tend to fluctuate from year to year. Probably because they face assorted competition from year to year. Al Montoya and Chad Johnson are like that too. Gustavsson always sucks though, no matter what year it is or how many games he plays or what team he's on.
