Solid deal for a quality 3rd line centre with upside.

Dubas has done a great job managing the cap with our complimentary players.

Like the price, love the term. In 2 years, 3.5 will be nothing. He's only 24, and looks pretty good from what ive seen. Just dont expect him to be the goal scorer Naz was.

I think that is really good business done by Dubas. 3.5 for someone who can play up and down the lineup is a great contract, especially in todays market.

My guess is Kerfoots production will take a hit not playing with Lando, Mackinnon, and Rantanen on PP1 but he should still have decent offensive numbers, enough to warrant the money.

Would be nice to see this deal as front loaded as possible, gives the Leafs a safety net if they need to move on in a year or 2

Well, he'll have guys like Mikheyev, Moore and/or Kapanen on his wings who will be the goal scorers on his line.

Love it. Kadri replacement for less money albeit with a little less production.
True but Kadri had no production in the playoffs. Also, offence should climb a bit with faster wingers for JT and Matthews. We also have faster, more mobile depth, except for Spezza but he can still get around.

4 years was a bit unexpected, but it's a good deal for Kerfoot. He still has upside as well.

Contract is good, but more worried about his defensive responsibility as 3C - who is going to fill the shutdown role against the opposition's top line? That was Naz's job. Can Kerfoot take that over? With our backend revamped, they'll need support from our forwards and if that's not him, then who?

If the advanced stats are right and this guy is a minor downgrade on kadri, then this is awesome. Kadri scored 16 goals and 44 points last year for us. If Ketfoot can get close to 15 goals and 40 points making 15 less, this is a great deal.

And reminder he is 24. He can still improve a ton and exceed the value of this deal.
Not to mention he projects to be a more impactful player defensively. Doesn't bring the same PP threat level, or shooting talent...but his playmaking skills might be more well suited to playing with the likes of Kapanen, who is more of a shooter.

There's a bit of risk, but worth the risk IMO. Happy to get Kerfoot signed for 4 years at a 3.5M cap hit, which is reasonable.

The Leafs have what 9M in cap space left now with Kerfoot signed to sign Marner?

We can still fit Marner in at up to like 12 million. It'd be less than ideal, and I don't want that, but we could.
