This seemingly pushes the projected space for Mitch Marner down to 9.5M.

Assuming Ceci gets 4.5M.

With this deal being the term it is, I wonder if a 3x2 or 3x3 deal for Ceci makes more sense, to bring our room back to 10.5-11M for Marner

Either Ceci signs for less, or we run with a 22 man roster IMO. I'll be plesently surprised if Marner signs for < 10.

Do we get any relief to start the season with Hyman and Dermott injured?
That's almost 3 million for maybe a month or two.

No, assuming they are on regular IR.
Well then pull out the Aho contract and let Marner take a good look at it.
We may have to give him a short term deal but retain RFA status. 2 years at 8.5.

A little surprising they went 4 years but it's a pretty fair deal considering his production and term. I thought they would have went with the 1 year deal to keep his cap hit a bit cheaper.

Either way, it's another mid-level player signed for a few years.

Dubas clearly doesn’t want to deal with the contracts of our forwards for the next 3 years

Makes me think Marner might be willing to sign a bridge

Assuming Marner for 10 and Moore as 3LW that's a ~52.7m top 9 locked in for the next two years. Throw in Rielly and Andy locked in at 5 per and that's 62.7. Backup goalie, 6-7D, F10-14 all at 750 to 1m = 6-8m, call it 7. 2.5% cap increase next season to 85.5.
15.6 for 2-3-4-5 d-men. Getting Dermott on a good number and having both Liljgren and Sandin ready will be huge for us.

I still feel like they might have to move on from at least one of Kerfoot, Johnsson, Kapanen or maybe even Hyman at some point in the next 2 years, maybe as early as next off-season... but it's really good so far. The majority of the lineup is locked up and the window to compete is a lot more clear now.
