On this day in 1973, GM Keith Allen swapped goalie Doug Favell to Toronto for the rights to goalie, and former Flyer, Bernie Parent. Believe it or not, the majority of the media and fanbase weren’t happy with the move.

Then again, looking at today’s media and the current fanbase, it’s really not surprising.

How about "best player in the world not in the NHL" Radovan Somik? He played 2 seasons and totaled 12 goals.

I think you are referring to Jiri Dopita.

Considering Sittler went 7OA in 92, he deserves to be at the top of the list. Also former 1st round picks Bob Currier, Glen Seabrooke and Jason Bowen would have to be up there as well.

Didn't think it belonged on the roster thread so I put it here. Anyone remember Mark Laforest? His 88-89 season with the Flyers had an impressive 4 pts in 17 games for a 0.235 PPG, giving him the most prolific scoring goalie season in Flyers history. His stats may have been garbage that season, but they shockingly were better than Robert Esche's 06-07 fiasco.

Thought would revive this thread... this was a fun little half hour activity or so to put together that team aha. Albeit mainly picked itself.

Fwds were easy, best 13 are clearly best 13 I think.
Dmen... trickier with Zhitnik, Yandle, Seidenberg, McCarthy, Niskanen all getting Norrris votes over career... and Ellis being very good too... but think all a slight cut below Samuelsson career wise.
Goalies? Hackett and Larocque maybe #3 and 4.

I might throw in Flyers inaugural captain Lou Angotti as a spare forward.

We gave up a huge haul for rental Oates..luckily none of them panned out if I recall correctly.

Gilbert Dionne and Pavl Brendl were two other notable names from Flyers past...

No Al Secord or Dennis Ververgaert? Willie Huber? He never had a positive +/- in any season of his 10-year career, but did go 4-9-13 in 10 games as a Flyer (he was a defenseman)

How about Jari Kurri? Technically, he was a Flyer at one time.
