If we don't vote in Babe Seibert in the next two rounds, the final table would make no sense whatsoever. The only argument for Clapper is having played all his career for a still active franchise. Had Clapper played in Montreal (Maroons), no one would've cared about this guy who just never, ever was the best player on his line.

I usually agree with you, but not here.

I agree that Siebert is very comparable to Clapper in terms of peak length and quality, but Clapper was a lot better as a forward and got a lot more recognition outside their peaks.

Clapper all star record as forward: 2, 2, 4, 4, 4 (plus a projected 2nd-4th place finish in 29-30)

As D: 1, 1, 2, 4*,6, 6', 9*, 12
*war year 'partial war year

Seibert all star record as forward: 5, 7. (Siebert also finished 14th in Hart voting in 25-26, which is probably some kind of finish)

As D: 1, 2, 2, 5

Siebert's best years was a defensive/physical presence prior to the forward pass.
And Siebert had also a tougher road to support as an all-star. And that's also the only years he played as a D-Men.

And I'm not saying Siebert should've been ahead of Clapper, either. I'm not even saying should be considered in this project (in fact, I kinda hope he isn't).

... Besides, are Clapper's 1's really 1's? (of course, the same can be said for every 1es)

Vote 15...

For the first time since Vote 2, my Top 5 was the same as The Panel's Top 5. [Order was different- didn't have Firsov at the very top (had him on the podium, though).]

So- really nice outcome, from my perspective.

Jari Kurri fills every block.

Mahovlich only candidate not to take a 10th.

Wonder who voted Dit Clapper 10th?

Four 10th place votes for Firsov (first place) and Durnan. Durnan surprises me more.

How does Clint Benedict get four first place votes?

Waiting on a corrected ballot. Mathematically it shouldn’t be able to affect anything, so if I don’t hear something by tonight, we might go ahead with the results while we wait to hear where they would have placed the player who was missing on their ballot.

Yes, please post the results at some point today/tonight if they are ready. These discussions are quite short without losing a full day.

Honestly guys, is it too much to ask to proof-read a ballot of 10 names before sending it in?
One missing player on a 10-deep ballot=presumed last.

Problem solved.

Didn't bother listing the guy- must not think much of 'im at this stage of the Project.

I'll see what things look like in the morning.

Oh, well, Day One :eek::eek::eek:f***ed with a shitdildo...

If a name is missing then either

A) invalid ballot
or
B) assume its 10th

Waiting an extra day for a voter correction is an option most of us don't want it seems.

C) Start next round, if the missing vote cannot possibly affect who is voted in. If there's an impact, blank the name/names.

Example : Here's the hypothetical ranking.

  • Aurele Joliat
  • Bill Durnan
  • Boris Mikhailov
  • Brett Hull
  • Charlie Gardiner
  • Cy Denneny
  • Jari Kurri
  • Max Bentley
  • Sergei Fedorov (let's say the gap between Gardiner and Fedorov is 8 points)
  • Turk Broda (let's say this one is 15 points away from Fedorov)
If the missing player is one of the first five, no issue.
If the missing player is, say, Broda, there is no issue.
If the missing player is any of the next four :
- Any player below the "missing player" isn't getting voted in, so they're marked as available for next round.
- Say Fedorov is missing and the problematic ballot had Gardiner last. Fedorov COULD leapfrog everyone up to and including Gardiner. But Bentley, Kurri and Denneny are certain to not make it, since they can't pass Gardiner. The same reasoning would apply should Kurri, Bentley and Dennenny be the ones missing.
