To be fair, that is consistent with the goalies project.

A lot of information was provided that wasn't available then, correct?

Hall and Brodeur are the premium longevity cases and should have been a package deal. I don't care that Hall is ahead of Marty. You're splitting hairs between the two. But everything that was brought up this past round should have made it rather easy to put him in this go IMO.

It really isn't. Hall isn't some also ran here. He was ranked as the best goalie in the league 7 times. If you feel that strongly that Hall shouldn't be over Brodeur, should've made your case better.

Did you even read the past round?

Jesus Christ 70's, myself, Batis and others had long breakdowns of his numbers being much better than the raw data suggests.

Brodeur was six points behind Clarke. A little surprised from the Soviets being top 2 but aside from that, I don't see how Brodeur behind the rest of these guys is a great travesty. He's going #1 next round, I imagine.

He wasn't a product, but he benefitted from the NJ system. As did Espo from Orr (which has been hammered in to hell and back). Has a very dubious Vezina in his resume as well.

I saw that. NJ undercounted shots. Marty suppressed shots.

That doesn't tell me why I should put him over Hall. Hall was ranked as best in his position 7 times, won a Smythe, and was second-team 5 other times. He has a kinda crappy playoff record (a couple of peaks, but a lot of disappointing years), but he has as impressive a resume as anyone else in this part of the voting. Acting like him getting in is some grave injustice and tyranny most foul just sounds dramatic. We're not talking about Coffey over Orr here.

Same here. He barely scraped his way in. Very surprised at that.

Again.... He was behind Fetisov, Brodeur and Hall the previous round, and you probably know as well as I did that Makarov was available one round later than he should've been.

If anything, it's like... super expected that he made it (not at the top).

I'm not saying it's right or wrong by the way.

It's this easy.

Brodeur was the 3rd best goalie of the 90's and clearly the best of the 2000's. Peak save % just about on Plante's level and par with Hall's. Longevity that no other goalie other than Hall/Roy can match. Multiple Vezina's in the DPE and post DPE. 3 Cups, 2 of which he was utterly dominant on. Incredible international knockout stage results.

And 70's clearly showed that how undercounting of shots in NJ greatly impacted his raw data. His puck moving skills were a huge factor for the trap system being successful.

Still waiting to get in.

Par for the course is to get passed over in your first try and then get in on your second. Brodeur will do exactly that.

Hall deserved to get in ahead of him, whether or not they went in together.

That's Brodeur's third try next round...
Brodeur was ahead of Hall, Clarke and Espo last round.

Very happy with the top 3. Tbh i got 4 out of 5 right, with only Clarke edging out Brodeur for me, even if i didn't have the order right.

I'm relieved Espo went in so we can stop obsessing over him a bit too much.

... That's a decent consolation prize, I guess.

Exactly.

In the span of a week he's now behind all 3?

Considering there was easily more discussion on Broduer in a positive light the past week, I don't see how.

Whatever. :dunno:

I guess he'll be #1 on my ballot next round.

That's a little odd honestly. I mean, Clarke had some good discussion this time to boost him, and I think there was some "flogging Espo to death for playing with Orr" fatigue this round and a lot of "he's waited long enough" might have inflated his placement on some people's.

And TBF - 11 points separated Brodeur from Clarke (who was 1 and 4th) last time, so while it's a big jump in placement, it's not a huge jump in points.
