Very disappointing so far, mostly invisible except when getting noticed for too many lazy and cheap penalty calls.

To be fair, they were mostly pretty cheap calls. A side from the penalty minutes, seems pretty much the same as last season. Can handle the puck, shoot, skate, grind, and not large to be polite, but handles the rough going.

What are saying in this post? Could you elaborate?

His play this year is similar to last year (+/-) but he is not scoring big goals at key times like last year. I rather not jump on his back cause he has one less notch below last year's performance. Why? I would like to trade him at some point and if we throw him under the bus, that will reduce his value and our fan base does that to a lot of players. Hero or Zero and very little in between

Disagree. We going to treat him like we treated Shaw now? He is having an alright season but last year he scored big goals at key times which makes you forget some of his flaws or bad games.

Tatar is a top 6 or above average top 9 talent. Leave him be. We need to trade him at some point to get some value man lol

I asked because it's an ineteresting point that I've thought about before: how much do open and honest conversations in internet chat boards about a player actually affect a players value?

Related, if you go on to another teams's board inquiring about a player, often they won't give you a straight answer. They'll sell you on the player's positives if they want that you player moved, as if people in the NHL are listening. It's possible they are. I remember Laracque saying Carboneau was always reading the comment sections of rds.ca when he went to his office. When the sportsnet chat forums closed down, i remember the mods saying just how many hockey people, and some big names, had accounts...

Social media player treatment is a factor. I rather have the other teams scouts make their own decisions. Think of it this way... if a player is getting thrown under the bus by our fan base and the other fan base see this... What does the other teams management think? Do the make the trade anyways and ignore what their fan base would think? Possible yes but something tells me they might not make the deal or try to acquire for cheaper.

It's a factor but how much? Who knows and it's different from player to player

Since the trade last year between the Habs and the Golden Knights, here are the stats:

Tomas Tatar- 95 GP 30 G 41 A - 71 points

Max Pacioretty- 82 GP 25 G 28 A - 53 points

Tatar is a clever player that has good game. We should be able to get a decent return for him if we were to trade him but I doubt we will.

Has been solid since his arrival in MTL,yet this season, many are dumping on him,and he's tied for the most points, not sure why all the hate.

He can the handle the puck very well and pretty much do it all.

Probably his best game of the season. He hasn't been a factor outside the offensive zone until last night.

I did not get the luxury to watch many games recently, but he is a good 2nd line player. He looks to me like one of the only player on the Habs to have that natural offensive flair/creativity, that ability to control the puck and not just go in a straight line with it. Drouin is another one but until this year he was too inconsistent while Tatar is less talented but more consistent.

I'm actually sad that he will have to leave soon because he complements the gritty players like Gallagher, Domi pretty well

Tatar/Gallagher duo is insanely underrated in term of possession, domination and net drive, they ALWAYS drive at least 1 quality pucks to the net at each of their presence, top of the league for possession and shutdown.

Danault is great because he let them drive the Ozone while he plays more a defensive role.
Now, what if we put a #1c pass first on this line ? Domi wouldn't fit since he drive the Ozone entry, but I think a Player like Suzuki who reads well, slow down the plays and make a pass first would fit even better with them.

Tatar/Suzuki/Gallagher, this needs to be try

I expected him to be a 35-40 points, 3rd line contributor when he got here. Had a career year last season, then I expected him to go back to 40-45 points a season... Fast forward November 7th, he's leading our team in points.

He's the perfect 2nd line LW. In fact, Tatar - Danault - Gallagher is such a fine 2nd line. All we're missing is actual 1st line talent.

I'm more open to talk about "line specialty" then saying "line #1-#2-#3-#4".

Tatar/Danault/Gallagher are our shutdown specialist line
Drouin/Domi/Armia is our offensive line
3rd and 4th can become a defense line, enforcer, special team, minute killing, etc.

Tatar-Danault-Gallagher have been a very good first line since the start of 18-19. In all metrics at 5v5 they dominate.
