This is his 6th post-season and his 6th post-season disappearance. It's not a fluke at this point. He's not built for tough hockey.
He's not only disappearing in the postseason he's also disappearing in the important must win games during the season. He's always been this way with Detroit and Vegas. He was already old when he got here so i don't understand why some people are surprised.

When the whole Tatarrrrr thing started i was like those guys really don't know the player at all? He's a depth player. If he's your worst top 6 player he can be fine specially if the 5 other players are top quality but he's certainly not a guy you want on your top offensive or defensive line he's just not this type of guys. He would be okay on an "exploitation 2nd line" on a team whose best defensive line is the 3rd line and the best offensive line is the first line.

Not a playoff player.

If he doesn't sit for Caufield or Evans or any other warm body, DD is not fit for HC role

I’ll be mad if they resign him for anything more then 4m a year. Which is unrealistic

Anyone blaming him is ridiculous. He's not a playoff player. Anyone expecting differently so of sudden is living in a fantasy world.

Tatar is the perfect example of a guy who can get you to the playoffs. But not one that can help you win once you get there.

If his contract reflects that, he's a perfectly solid player who should be benched come playoff time lol

Like Markov, Plekanec, Pacioretty, Gallagher, Danault..... the perfect player to keep the team away from the cup AND the can't miss draft picks and get nowhere.

We like building around those players in Montreal.

I’m a Tatar fan but what a stupid move not to trade him in 2020. He was a peak value, we could have done a Pacioretty like trade.

They should have trade him and his two buddies Danault and Gallagher.
Next level asset management would have been trading away Danault and Tatar when their values were at an all time high. Alas, we’re here in a situation where they’ll be walking for nothing.

I don’t want Tatar back next year. Every playoffs this guy disappears. He’s a regular season player.

The problem isn't having one or two of these players - you need them to get there. It's always having a bunch.

He's getting played the least out of any player, 12 minutes average a game. Do you expect him to work miracles with what he's being given? Can't believe this fanbase is still so toxic after what happened to Drouin.

None of our pending ufas should be resigned. Go young with 22, poehling etc and cheaper FAs who bring something different to the table.
If that's the approach you're taking, you plan it ahead of time and deal them for assets. Losing for nothing is not good management.

We should have traded him last season at the deadline. Terrible asset management once again by Bergy. So many players we lost for nothing where we could have traded them at the right time and get something valuable in return

Note the same is true of the previous regime (Gainey/Gauthier).

Yes, lately, because he's been terrible for some time now...much as Drouin was before he left...fans getting on a supposed star for continued crap play isn't OK in the NHL anymore??...
