I think we can increase his value up until the deadline so if we aren't getting a 2nd, I'll pass. Unless we absolutely need his cap space used elsewhere.

The thing is, as exciting as it's been to watch him and this team for the past couple years. It's been too long since we've had a combination of size and skill (2008 correct me if I'm wrong).

Byron's remains a good player though. He scores relatively consistently and in different ways. Alot of his goals are actually in close garbage man goals.

If we can get one of Hall, Toffoli, Dadonov of Hoffman signed it would be great to keep Byron on the 4th line with 1st PK duties but on that role he can be replaced by a player with a smaller cap hit quite easily.

Trading Byron might be hard though without having to retain...

Easier said than done.

Yes it would be great to move Byron and Weal for free but it's not happening.

Agreed for Weal(could go to the AHL as well and cost only 200k) but why do you think that Byron is not tradeable?

He's highly paid and the league is in a cap crunch.

He may need to come packaged with a pick. But couldn't a team like Ottawa fit him in. They just traded for Murray. They need some good vets.

We have 14 picks in the next draft and Weal is only an 800k cap hit if put in the minors. We could definitely move him with a pick. My guess is a 3rd would do it. But maybe a 4th or later does.

3.4m is highly paid for a 3rd liner who produce usually 20-20 and play solid defensively? Honest question here

I'm not sure he's a 20-20 guy anymore. And he's on the books for 3 more years. And he's over 30 and has problems staying healthy...

His play has decreased with the injuries, isnt the same player, his contract looks just too bad right now, I highly doubt we can move him...

Depends; we don’t have to trade him unless we need room for Hall or someone making above 5 million bucks.

If so, I see him having a few teams really feeling he can help their team.

Maybe we can get someone at 1-1.5mil in exchange (maybe a project player, or a high pick who ended up a depth player but legit NHLer) if package Byron with a pick.

I think Byron would interest some teams for his versatility, even with his contract. If we sign Hall or someone, where do Byron and Lehkonen fit? One has to be moved and unless Lehkonen can be packaged for something worth it, Byron is the one to go.
