Obviously, my comment was vague and I didn't mention any timeline so it means it could be any year.
The NHL is in NA, players from the CHL are always hyper more than european players. But even then, there's not a McDavid, Matthews, Crosby in every draft
I didn't make the exhaustive list of drafts where Stuetzle as a prospect could have been considered for 1st OA but recently 2006, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2019 could be examples, depending on people's opinion. Even this year before Lafreniere ran with it, I read people suggesting that Byfield and Stuetzle could also be considered. Not saying they are right or wrong. I had Lafreniere 1st OA pretty much all year but it's a matter of opinion since it's not an exact science.
Using hindsight, then he goes 1st OA over Fleury, Phillips, Daigle, Yakupov, Stefan, etc but it's a harder comparison because we don't know how good Stuetzle is going to be. If you go back sine the beginining, then there's plenty more 1st OA that didn't work out great.
All that being said, it's a pretty difficult exercise because it's hard to remember exactly how good every 1st OA was considered as a prospect.
