An all Thursday? That must be the let's see how few we can sell package.

It’s no different than the Bud Light game deals they used to push on other weeknight games where you got a beer and food and ticket for one low price.

I have Thursdays nights off most of time. But I don’t drink alcohol and having to help keep a daughter at GCU. Otherwise I wouldn’t mind that package.

Should come with a free Uber ride. Hey, there's an idea! The east valley people could just nap on the way there and home.

Difference with Vegas is they had Bill Foley as an owner and the corporate structure in the city was a bit more recession proof. So chances are they would have come through it much better.

The points are noted, but Vegas was hurting badly at that time around 2008-2012. I happened to be working for the airlines, and capacity was being cut left and right to Vegas. We are talking 15-30%, depending on the carrier. I still remember getting deals that were two free nights (Thursday and Sunday night for staying Friday and Saturday with room rates at a hotel like Mirage for $99 per night. Rates are closer to $129-149 now for a similar style room. The owner could have weathered the storm okay, but Vegas was not doing well. When the new airport terminal opened in 2015 timeframes, that was actually scheduled for a 2010 opening. Economy pushed construction back 4 years.

I live on the west side so I love where the arena is. Never takes me more than 30 minutes to get to the arena. It's gonna suck if the arena moves to the East side honestly.

Vegas has only been in the league two years, and the team success on ice was more than anyone thought. Being the new place to be, a winning team, a rich owner with a great marketing dept. etc. makes all the difference in the world. Let's see what happens when the NFL comes to town. ALL the stars aligned up perfectly for Vegas their first two years.

They should partner with Top Golf and run a bus from the Top Golf in Scottsdale and the Top Golf in Gilbert. Do some kind of a package where you get something at Top Golf and something at GRA, and a ride round trip.

To be fair, the team is trying. What would you prefer, they do nothing?

It's not like saying "hey buy the thursday games" hurts. The weekend plan exists.
Back when I used to work the weekend I used to buy a 13 game pack that was effectively an all Thursday pack

Will the flex plan be back this year?

A Thurday pack might get me out to more games. Day of the week doesn't really matter to me so an incentive to choose a traditionally poor attendance night might hook me.

Yeah, if it's so the Thursday-games are the hardest to sell, this should be a good plan. Fill up the bad day.

Nice hearing the sales are up in general.

In a giant city, it should off course be possible to sell out 20K tickets, if the team is good enough.

Biggest city in the industrialized world without a subway?

You guys talked about the ground being too hard somewhere else. That should be an odd reason, here I live when they build subways, the ground is always too soft, too crunched, too riddled with underground rivers, or too hard. Of those, I have a clear feeling the engineers solidly, solidly (no pun was intended) prefers too hard.

But obviously, if Phoenix runs out of water, that would be even worse.:naughty:
Spend some time in Phoenix. The cities with subways are by and large older and more condensed. Here the issue is the lack of mass transit from the surrounding communities. Light rail and dedicated bus only (not HOV) lanes would be far more cost effective. I love it when these guys from thousands of miles away opine upon what's best for Phoenix. Some know-it-alls from BOH who never spent a day in heat over 100F are a real hoot when they write about transportation and arena location.

I would love it if the Indians that own the new casino a mile away from the current arena would build them an arena and give them their subsidy. The CoG counsel and mayor would blow a gasket. Gary would take a few years removing his foot from his mouth. Everyone's heads on HF would explode. And of course it would still be close to my house!

That would be the Tohono O'Odham Nation which operates the Desert Diamond chain of casinos.

Merulo has already stated that he wants a new arena Downtown. There are so many vacant lots near the train line, it's almost a no-brainer to find enough land with easy transportation.

Meruelo hasn’t stated anything..... yet.

All the supposition about an arena downtown (or anywhere else) has been generated by the media.

Solid list of Thursday opponents, a couple clunkers, a few potential 4 point games against teams battling for the same playoff spot....all-in-all mostly attractive matchups:

Vegas, Nashville, CBJ, Toronto, Chicago, Minnesota, Anaheim, LA, Carolina and Vancouver twice

Cool idea but doesn't fix the weekday issue

I just renewed my 11-game plan, and avoided the Toronto and Chicago "Platinum" games, which cost like 30 percent more than the second tier. Personally, I wouldn't pay even the lowest-tier price to sit among a bunch of Blackhawk fans.

I haven't noticed nearly as many jerky blackhawk fans around recently. Maybe some of them remembered their ties to Pittsburgh or St. Louis?
