All I know is, at noon when they went on sale, all I could find was resellers with upper level seats for 220-230.00 when I selected "cheapest"

Maybe I need to get a 5 game stm pack or something for next year, but it's hard to get to specific games living so far away.

They don't make it easy to get in.

I guess I'll keep an eye on stubhub or something over the next week.

Part of the picture here is that for the first time in 10 years, it's actually worth buying a STH package for the playoff discount alone. It's been a generation since this fanbase even had to think about that part.

I suspect they're going to be hit with a wave of new buyers this fall, and even more so if they avoid the 02/06/09 pattern and actually play this momentum forward into consistent playoff appearances. That really is where the season ticket package recoups the value of all those Tuesday games against Ottawa in December.

Also: my STM tickets are *way* cheaper than that. That's what they're doing with this strategy: they're rewarding people for being STMs. As a STM for 10 years, I obviously approve of this strategy, and think it's better for both the org and the fan experience. One day, I want 18k rabid Caniacs in that building with zero visiting fans at all, because they can't even buy tickets at any price because no STM will sell their ticket.

Sucks for the casual fan, it's true.

Their strategy is so working. My mom and I were thinking of getting season tickets again a few months ago, but weren’t ready to bite the bullet. We just dropped $2300 for (4) tickets each game, at all 3 round 2 games, nosebleeds, via Ticketmaster. Kinda wish I had season tickets now, wish we jumped sooner. Think my mom and I might actually jump if there’s a round 3 to get the season ticket pricing/priority.

Yeah this is why I jumped on a STM this morning. This team is young, only getting better, and has more cap space than they know what to do with, and will still have plenty even after Aho and Mrazek get their monies. I'm all in on this team being better next year than they were this year, so I figured I would secure my spot going forward. Plus, the per game price for some of those seats are so low that I know I could recover a lot of the cost just by selling a few of the games that I can't go to at the prices those tickets usually go for on the secondary market.

These playoff prices, though.... Lets just say I wish I had done this a month ago

Or you can wait and see if the Canes lose a game or two up in LI. That should send prices tumbling.

At the end of Game 4, prices spiked for Game 6. After game 5 they came crashing back down.

Wife literally just said to me - Next time the arena is empty and they're begging for people to show up with 20$ seats that include hotdogs, they can go **** themselves, before we drive 4 hours again.

Can't blame her. I do NOT mind supporting this team. I won't line reseller pockets or get gouged though. I hate getting taken advantage of. Everyone around here is a caps fan, so I can't even do the bar thing anymore.

Game 4 is the only one we can make. Hell I even moved my on call for it. Ugh.

Maybe you and the missus need to redirect your anger. Tickets are at ridiculous prices because people are willing to pay ridiculous prices. By all means, buy those $89 tickets at Barclays and make sure you have cell reception so you can actually watch the game.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. Too bad really.

I got lucky buying tickets for game 4 after the game 2 loss and paid about 110.

Having a little one really hamstrings the budget. Maybe ilI' get lucky again .

I certainly get it too. But that's what happens when a team is relevant, fun, and hasn't been either for 10 years. Hell, I missed game 3 in the 1st round when I got sick and couldn't even find anyone to buy them. Now I had to pay over $200 with fees to get a ticket to game 4. I'm also driving from 4.5 hours away. Hell, I was already on the checkout screen and StubHub still allowed the person selling the ticket to jack it up $50 more. That's what really pissed me off. I'd already "claimed" it and was checking out, and they still ****ed me over. I wouldn't even go if I hadn't missed the first one.

It's a little known secret that you can get tickets at the window day of the game for close to any game you can imagine because the face value is crazy. My friend did this for Cup final games in both Newark and Boston.

Well that and because the NHL releases their unused block of seats the day of game. That's one of the reasons why we had seats available prior to Gmae 7 against the Sabres in 2006. The NHL requests a bloc of seats for each game for various groups and then release any they don't use back over to the team to sell.

Cheapest tickets via Stubhub right now (not including fees) for each team's first playoff home game for round 2.

Hurricanes - $174
Islanders $85 Non obstructed view

Bruins - $103
Blue Jackets - $135

Sharks - $90
Avalanche - $115

Stars - $100
Blues - $42 (What in the hell?!)

Yeah the prices we got handed for non STH's was pretty insane. That said I bought tickets anyways, even though I'm broke. I'll go broke for the Hurricanes lol.

I could have gotten into game 7 the morning of for $75 (+fees). Caps have been there, done that for years at this point. It was a Wednesday night, against us, and they probably felt their sphincters clench a bit like old times. Went up to about $100 on StubHub a few hours before. End of the day, it's just not as much fun to go on the road to me, so I'll pay the premium to go down to Raleigh next week.

The Islanders prices are 100% due to the building. The overwhelming majority of Islanders fans live at least 25-30 miles east of Barclays and the building is a real pain in the ass to get to. If these games were being held at the Colosseum the get in would be north of $200. Before a game was played I sold my game 2 first round ticket and netted $200.

I bought a ticket in 334 for $91 including fees for game 6 the day after we lost game 5. The day after we won game 4 my son bought 2 tickets in 336 for $145 each. @Borsig if you're willing to gamble a bit, you can wait until the day before you're planning on traveling. Win, lose, or draw, resellers butts start clenching the closer you get to the game and prices almost always come down. Otherwise, you're paying market rate at an inflated price.

BTW, I'm a fan of the 330's as it is our "shoot twice" goal zone and you get the see the plays forming as the players come up ice.

Yep. We're nearly double the going rate.

Problem is finding a dog sitter last minute.

I'll keep the evening open if we can make it and find something reasonable the day before. but I'm not paying upward of 500 bucks for a pair nosebleeds for second round.

That's definitely true but insane face values are also a reason. For example the Pajama Boy return was probably the most in demand regular season game in Islanders history with get in prices near $200 on the secondary market. The face value of the tickets was so ridiculous that there were still a handful left available the day of the game.

I'm not sure what your point is on here exactly. There's tickets for sale "non-resale" in section 317 for $167.83 each. Is that what you're looking for?

This is key regardless of circumstance. From a seller’s point of view, there’s a huge risk in still having tickets in hand when the game starts. At that point you’re up against the wall to potentially lose your entire investment, because you tried to squeeze a few extra bucks of if it. There’s a natural drop in prices in the hours leading up to any event (with the exception of events that finally sell out on gameday, but that’s not relevant here).

Of course, if you wait that long you’re at the mercy of what inventory is still left over. But at least it gets you in the door, if you can find a reseller who’s just trying to cut bait before it’s too late.
