A lot of the mock drafts that have one of the top 6 forwards sliding to the Devils have Buffalo and/or Edmonton and/or Carolina taking a defenseman. I'm not sure I see Carolina OR Edmonton taking D, Rutherford usually doesn't do it and I think MacTavish is too smart to waste a pick that high on Nurse (who a lot of people say Edmonton should take) just because of "grit."
So in the end I'd love to see Lou try and move up to 3. One of the top forwards could, and likely would, singlehandedly turn this franchise around in a few years. At the same time, I think the Devils might get really lucky with a forward at the ninth spot. This draft is especially loaded at F and guys like Shinkaruk and Monahan (and Domi though he's a little small for a high pick) would easily be top-5 forward picks in some recent drafts.
