it fletcher's abject failure that he has failed to find ambidextrous forwards.

After reading this topic, I think it's official: I've seen every player on every possible line.

Browsing through some old GDTs...

On 2/23/12 our lineup was:

Setoguchi - Brodziak - Heatley
Powe - Cullen - Johnson
Rau - Christensen - Clutterbuck
Ortmeyer - Peters - Kassian

Schultz - Prosser
Zanon - Zidlicky
Scandella - Spurgeon

Backstrom
Hackett

Red = Not with organization anymore.

Blue = Iowa.

Crazy.

Nick Schultz - Nate Prosser

That's a legitimate 1st pairing right there.

TBF, that is because Zidlicky was completely in the doghouse and someone has to be put up there. Spurgeon and Scandella were just as green as Prosser was basically.

I wouldn't mind seeing

Zucker-Haula-Nino

Once Granlund is back I think the Wild need to do the following lines

Pominville-Koivu-Nino
Parise-Granlund-Coyle
Cooke-Brodziak-Fontaine
Mitchell-Konopka-Heatley

For now though put Haula in Granlund's spot. I don't know why Yeo continues to put Heatley up in the lineup. He's played best on the 4th line with PP minutes. I could also go for

Pomiville-Koivu-Nino
Parise-Granlund-Zucker
Cooke-Brodziak-Coyle
Heatley-Konopka-Mitchell/Fontaine

Eh I'm more of a fan of:

Pominville-Granlund-Nino
Parise-Haula-Coyle
Cooke-Koivu-Heater
Mitchell-Brodziak-Fontaine

HS: Rupp and Konopka play when bigger hitting teams come in. Scratch Haula on those occasions and they look like:

Parise-Koivu-Coyle
Pomer-Granlund-Nino
Cooke-Brodziak-Heater
Rupp-Konopka-Fontaine

I'd switch Koivu and Haula but that's just me. Haula may develop into that 2C, but I don't think he's there yet. Although his small NHL sample size thus far has been pretty good.

I go by TOI moreso what the actual lines are about.

1st and 3rd lines for this team have always had more time because 3rd is shutting down #1 opposing scoring line and 1 is typically out there against theirs. Having Haula on the 2nd gives him a more limited amount of faceoffs since they will most likely be predominately in the offensive zone or neutral zone at the worst. Koivu taking defensive zone faceoffs and neutral is highly optimal, especially with Brodziak or even Konopka on 4th.

So it isn't moreso a slam at Koivu for needing to be there, but allowing your more offensive minded centers to be given the chance to excel with high speed players who want to shoot. Mikko wants to play the transition game, get limited shots off, and play defense...the 3rd line is ideal.

Here's what I'd like to see when Koivu returns...

Parise - Granlund - Pominville
Niederreiter/Zucker - Koivu - Heatley/Niederreiter
Cooke - Coyle - Fontaine/Haula/Heatley
Haula/Zucker - Brodziak - Mitchell

(Heatley is so hard to fit in, and Zucker hasn't locked himself in anywhere either...)

PP#1

Parise - Granlund - Pominville
Brodin - Suter

PP#2

Niettereiter - Koivu - Coyle
Spurgeon - Scandella

Nah, Cooke, Brodz, Fontaine are generally a good line together.

Niederreiter - Koivu - Coyle
Parise-Granlund-Pominville
Heatley-Haula-Zucker
Cooke-Brodz-Fontaine

Realistically you could use 3rd line in offensive zone starts and 4th line as a 3rd line checking role if you see what I'm saying, Realistically you could roll 4...lines would be pretty fluid as 1 2 3 4 if you see what I'm saying.

Pominville Minnesota
Parise-Granlund-Pominville(Scoring and skill galore)
Nino-Koivu-Coyle(Big Bodied scoring/responsible defensively scoring line)
Cooke-Brodziak-Fontaine("Shut down" line, will also provide some offensive spark)
Heatley-Haula-Mitchell(4th line, solid defensively with slight offensive punch)
Veilleux.

Unfortunately back goes Zucker to Iowa. But since Zucker is never going to play on the 3rd or 4th line and there is no top 6 spot thats where he goes for now.
