Line Combos: This team needs to mix things up!

    It's clear that, although the team gets great possession, they don't get enough high quality chances in their current mix. They need to REALLY juggle things up, and I mean top to bottom!

    My suggestion... (with Coyle out of the lineup still)

    Parise - Granlund - Nino
    Cooke - Koivu - Pominville
    Fontaine - Brodziak - Mitchell
    Veilleux - Konopka - Heatley

    Sorry, Granlund needs to stay at center! He's playing GREAT there and IMO is this team's best center already.

    I've got zero issue with Coyle on the wing. Liked him there last year with Parise anyway.

    I'd put him back on the wing where he can do the most damage along the boards, then crashing the net catching passes from Granlund!

    IF I kept Coyle at center though I'd go with something like this...

    Parise - Granlund - Nino
    Cooke - Coyle - Pominville
    Fontaine - Koivu - Heatley
    Veilleux - Brodziak - Mitchell

    Coyle and Granlund both need to stay at center. That's why I say knock the captain off his damned pedestal and bust him down to third line. Have him center Cooke and Mitchell. i think that would be a GREAT line and a lot of fun to watch.

    swap Konopka for Dowell and we have a winner.

    Koivu probably has the best chance out of anybody to get Heater going again.

    When Coyle gets back through Heater to the dogs. When Zucker gets his **** together swap him and Haula. Make that line a threat.

    Since were throwing everything at the wall here, let's throw in the hypothetical desperation trade for Vanek. If that happens, and we get Coyle back:

    Parise - Granderward - Vanek
    Nino - Coyle - Pominville
    Cooke - Koivu - Mitchell
    Veilleux - Brodziak - Fontaine

    Too bad Yeo will never get the nerve to knock Koivu off that top line.

  14. How about taking Parise off the top line. Second in the NHL in shots, but just four goals, and a less than 8% shooting. That's horrible, no matter how some may want to overlook it. I bet Mikko, Pommer and Niño are mad because they pass him the puck and he can't bury it!

    I don't think he has as fragile an ego as Yeo thinks he may have. Koivu wears the C for a reason. He started his career there, he'd handle it just fine.

    I think Koivu could handle it. It's Yeo who I don't think could accept it.

    4 goals in 9 games is on pace for ~36 goals and his shooting percentage is 8%...

    obviously a few assists and close to ppg would be much better but that requires Pommer and Koivu to actually put the puck in the back of the net on a consistent basis.

    That would require Parise to actually create something. Outside of Koivu and Suter bouncing a couple of goals off of him, he really hasnt done much but hustle and take bad shots.

    You said it just fine, he would NOT pout if he was moved to the 3rd line. He's got too good of a head on his shoulders. Obviously you don't respect the Captain's attitude towards the game.
     
  24. Parise can't create, he's just a banger, who needs others to do all the work so e can try to stuff it in to the goal again, and again, and again...who gives a crap about the hustle if there are no tangible results.
