well. there's no peace down there. not since peeps were wearing bellbottoms and ceilings were being busted by big hairstlyles. The Leafs winning a game in Buffalo is like a Politician telling you the truth- doesn't happen. I was looking at old, dusty orange photographs labeled "Grandma with Andrew at the Lake, 1972", and it also said "Leafs won in Buffalo that night"....... so this I assume, is the last time they won in the Sabres barn? Cause I can't seem to recall another time... unless I missed it.. which apparently is easy to do...

Maybe in Salary.
But they are essentially the same player, Armstrong much better skater.

They both bring grit and leadership. Stats wise is even, but if you are counting best years, Armstrong wins.

(Problem with Armstrong was he acquired the Collaocoivo disease).

All in all, Clarkson is Colby v2.0.

Really? I remember Armstrong being pretty immobile. Clarkson has decent wheels for his size.

He wasn't misused. He lost his job to Kadri, got put in a different role because of that, and he did dick all. That isn't Carlyle's fault. I also don't think it's a coincidence that the first year Grabo is in a lesser role, we make the playoffs.

The thing is, Grabo miscast as a defensive specialist was still a much more valuable player than Clarkson.

Grabovski actually produced more goals and points on a checking line than Clarkson will on a scoring line.

Grabovski could actually help possession by moving the puck up the ice. All Clarkson can do is chip it out of the zone right back to the other team.

In a capped league, that is PRECISELY how you evaluate a players worth.

This can't be emphasized enough. I can't believe there are still people who don't get that every dollar counts. We can't even afford to re-sign the players on *this* godawful team next year, never mind adding a Stastny, Callahan, Vanek, or some other nice free agent.

Not defending the team at all here guys, but the Sabres have beat San Jose and the Kings as well this season (plus florida and NYI lol). Shoulda had this win tonight, usual lack of drive by the team though and the missed call on JVR defiantly doesn't help. If that call happens we go into OT with a 3-3 then a PP and its a completely different game. I think the leafs would kill it 3-3.

You guys saying the team sucks are defiantly over reacting a bit, but there is defiantly cause for worry. The team seems to be getting overly deflated and brought down by subpar defense and players not showing up. Today Franson Ranger and even Fraiser were rough to watch. This and the bad penalties are just bringing us down, but were not as bad as our record in the last 5 games.

Don't think the refs were that bad. That's a holding on Ranger, and D'Agostini took the puck first on JVR. Those are the correct calls, I don't really see any case possible for the opposite.

Either way, if you really want to deserve a win against the worst team in the league then you make sure to give yourself some margins. Toronto didn't. In fact, Toronto looked like the worse team on the ice tonight. That's not on the refs.

I dunno... it's weird. Maybe being in a bus going down the QEW sucks their morale? Who knows. Maybe it's just the atmosphere? Or maybe the record will even out after 1000 years of NHL, by probability. But there are no excuses for constantly losing in that building.

It has something to do probably with the players on buffalo playing their hardest knowing that the opposing team is entering their barn and most of the fans in the building are also from the opposing team.

They treated this like a playoff game and the leafs treat everything like they are playing a bantam team.

Okay, Grabo wasn't scoring with us, meaning he was useless. It was smart to buy him out. I couldn't care less what his stats are with the Caps, he wouldn't have done that with us this year.

He wasn't misused. He lost his job to Kadri, got put in a different role because of that, and he did dick all. That isn't Carlyle's fault. I also don't think it's a coincidence that the first year Grabo is in a lesser role, we make the playoffs.

2 goals in the past what? 6 games? He is coming around. He missed almost a month because of a suspension, of course he is going to start slow.

I also don't think that it's a coincidence that the team's been much worse possession wise since letting those bums Cmac and Grabo walk, overall we've been terrible. I get that we like to focus on the rush, but it's pretty embarrassing when you get out-possessed by a garbage team like Buffalo twice.

Judging by the salaries you threw out... he is doing half of what is expected.

That is if you base expectations off of salaries, which is a completely stupid thing to do.

You just did that with Grabo literally 1 post above.

Role players are the guys you win cups with. I'm serious, and 100% right.

If you don't have any checkers, any fore checkers, any board guys, any role players, you won't be in the playoffs at all. You NEED the 20-30 point guys to be successful.

You don't pay "role players" or "20-30" point guys 5.25 mil...for 7 Years!

Montreal suffered the same fate and TB lost. We're still ok.

Could have used an extra point here but lets take 9pts out of the last 20 and move on!

Just finished watching the game. Kadri - clarkson and raymond needs to broken apart, that line has zero chemistry. Also now both our goalies suck. Who do we play against montreal, no ****ing clue.

Every team goes through slumps.

You know the smurfs went through a 5 game losing treak right??

The canucks lost 7 of 8 before they won last night. AND THEY PLAY IN THE WESTER CONFERENCE!

calm down

Its not that we lost

If you look the way we have played throughout the season, nothing has changed.

From game one

Our Defensive coverage has been awfull

Our Breakout has been awfull

Our giveaways have been awfull

We get no offensive zone time

Our rush offense has always been grt

Our power play has been grt

Our goaltending has been grt

I hope you are right but I really think that we need to make some changes

Holy ****. I was there last night, and I didn't see that until now. What a fluke.

Of course, the Kulemin goal was a total fluke, too, though at least that looked brilliant.

I don't think they were penalties either but with the bad/non-penalties that have been going against us recently, I think we deserved a toss up call in the heat of the moment to go in our favor.

We've a lot of bad calls go against us these past games. That Malking tying goal last time around was one of the worst non-calls I've seen.

I guess our turn will come eventually.

If our Leafs were playing the 30th overall Sabres in a hypothetical playoff series right now, Buffalo would be up 2 games to 1.

While 30th place teams don't make the playoffs, teams losing to them also have a much road to climb to get in themselves.

Lost points against bottom teams are much more damaging to playoff aspirations than losing to top teams who were going to finish above you in the standings anyways like the Pittsburgh loss.

I'm resisting the temptation to comment on this game, the breaks will even out calls wise as the season goes on.

That's it.

In any given season it seems like the Sabres normally play differently against the Leafs at home than any other situation. I think that all of the opposing fans motivate them to play their best and possible put added pressure onto the Leafs.

I remember after win in the late 90s there was an interview with one of the Sabres and Miro Satan (one of the most mellow players on the roster at the time) was in the background shouting "go leafs go". It's a situation that just brings something out in players.
