In a normal year coming back from down 1-3 would be a monumental effort...but, with the prospect of leaving the bubble and heading home to family after the next loss makes this an even more unlikely.

I am hopeful, but really not confident at all...

to beat Tampa you have to play a stingy defensive style, get good goaltending and capitalize on your chances. if you try to match their skill they will beat you. Our small defense makes their players feel far more comfortable, the goaltending wasn't good and we haven't been capitalizing on our chances. No shot with that. Tampa is more talented but they can be frustrated if you play them the right way. Claude would be a better coach for this series. He'd at least have the right defenseman playing

They are done. Who ever thought that had a chance with Halak as a goaltender was desilusional.
Well, at least no need to worry with back to back games anymore
Too simple to just blame him. You cannot win without scoring some 5 on 5 goals. Second line is AWOL, dee is soft and we given up a lot prime scoring chances since the 1st one. Give Tampa credit they addressed their roster and protect the crease, Vas is having a easy series.

No roster is going to be perfect, I think Cassidy has been given enough to work with to take on anyone in a series. Sweeney could have done more to add more secondary scoring, but I do think there's enough there to get the job done if they're used correctly. Cassidy has straight up shit himself with his decision making this series though.
Well te game three changes were too drastic, but when your big guys can't score 5 on 5 you have to do something. Shake up the lines at least.

it is what it is i guess. we were rolling before the pause. being an older team this restart killed them.
they never looked like the bruins.
tampa hasnt even been that good. vasy has but other than that they have hedman.
mcdonagh getting injured was the best thing to happen for tampa against the bruins.

Dont buy the "older team" narrative.
Dallas is rolling, their topline of Benn Seguin and Radulov are looking better than they did all season.
Pavelski has new life and looks like his old self.

Am I nuts in thinking that it was obvious Gourde sold that call? He almost got right back up then decided to lay out like he just died, then was back at it again to finish the game with no issues lol.

What could the injury have even been? Only a bit of him even hit the boards

No, you do not have a chance.

The whole team looks like they’ve had enough of the bubble. Can’t say I blame them.

Think the offseason for this team is going to be the most important one for them in the past 10 years.

Agreed - which is why we need a new GM to give it a fresh look. Sweeney cannot build a Cup winner.

It’s not Cassidy lmao
He's the biggest issue in this series, bar none. He has adjusted a single thing other than bizarre line-up decisions like Game 3 and 4. He's simply stood back letting Point pick apart their lower lines, with zero adjustments. Second straight series against this team where he has no clue what to do to stop the bleeding.

This season feels so much like 2013-14. Year after losing the Cup finals, dominate in the regular season and win the President’s trophy, easy round 1 win, uninspired poor effort in round 2.

And then significant changes to the team and back-to-back playoff misses. Feels like next season will either be a last hurrah for this core or a passing of the torch to the next generation if things don't go well.

If you think the coach is the biggest issue this series you’re not watching.
