The Comets have not been applying any extended pressure in the Amerks zone where they have been a lot. Their play is very erratic which would be consistent for a team of grinders. The first and 2nd line are supposed to be skilled, but it's not showing consistently. The 3rd line has some skills but are most effective with a hard forecheck, forcing turnovers and getting dirty goals like the one they have tonight.

Lines 1 and 2 have to hit the net, take the shot if it's there, quit forcing passes, but give the puck up to get the puck back. Otherwse they just end up turning it over and all of their efforts go for naught.

Comets on the PP to start the period.
9 seconds in and the Amerks score shorthanded.
2-1 Rochester.

Comets continue to try and force the pass cross ice on the PP and it doesn't work. They need to move a lot more and pass off the open spaces.

That PP was nothing to look at.

4 minutes gone in the 2nd period and shots are 17-7 Comets.

Comets get another PP. 2 for holding. You know my take on this. They better take advantage because the refs will usually even the calls out.

They are a man up and it's not much more noticeable than 5 on 5. Anas was everything on the PP and it's been crap without him. He could carry it in, settle it down, make the tape to tape scoring chance. They struggle to do any of those 3 things without him.

This is only the second Comets game I’ve watched but what’s noticeable to me is how slow Baertschi is.

Baertschi on a breakaway and Luke comes up BIG.

Lind's forecheck is very passive and rarely physical.

Comets applying pressure but need a sniper. Shots are directed to the middle of the net.

Rochester is playing a defensive system in their own zone. Have to be able to pass the puck around to open up the blockade. Then you have to snipe the opening. It's not an easy job for plumbers.

The Comets can't handle all the bodies in front of Gillies' net and Brett Murray finishes the loose puck.

Rochester scores again. Gillies completely lost his focus on that one. The goal came on a shot he never saw them take right in front of him while he was down sideways and looking into his net.

Comets are not playing well in their own end at all.

Comets are playing good in little spurts and suck in the between times.

Comets to the PP and a great chance to get back into this, but if the PP is run the way the last ones were it won't produce much.
