Sounds about right

It has been obviously for awhile Reirden is not a capable head coach with this veteran of a team. He maybe will have two straight first round playoff losses after taking over a cup winning team that made it to 2nd round previous two years before winning cup. No way a rookie/no head coach experience in nhl coach should take over a Stanley cup team that’s still trying to win. The very best thing (winning cup) for this franchise then had one of the most dumb decisions ever made (making Reirden head coach).

This is a common thing with head coaches who get their first head coaching job with the caps. It has never worked in ovi era. Yet Reirden/this coaching staff is still defended by so many people somehow.

Say what you want about how hard Islanders and canes work - and how they are good vs caps - but truth is the islanders were supposed to be one of the worst 2-5 teams in the nhl when trotz took over beginning of last year - and Reirden took over the Stanley cup champions - and here we are where trotz has a lead over the caps in the playoffs - and has badly outplayed the caps too.

Such a stark difference between a Trotz coached team and a Rierden coached team. One plays a very disciplined game, the other has breakdowns all over the place. And its been like that with Rierden since he took over. Not going to win anything like that.

Shoulda been a shutout if not for some flukey/non-repeatable pp goals. They blow. It was evident since January

Yup - and trotz and islanders know they can take penalties/be more aggressive 5v5 too bc caps pp isn’t anywhere near what it should be. 7 opportunities today and a +3 pp advantage and the winning goal is bc of a short handed goal.

that’s bc of hard work and having your team care. You don’t get lazy/East short handed goals.

He’s one playoff series removed from a very solid Stanley cup winning performance.

That was lighting in a bottle. The pattern of making a few great saves always followed by a weak goal or two started when Mitch Korn left.

what do people want TR to do exactly? he's got one goalie who sucks and another who hurt himself and lied.

And his 1C got taken out by a cheap shot and his 3C is still in quarantine.

Like I said though, it doesn't matter if this is the Holtby they get. That first goal he let in was complete garbage and turned the tide of the game. The second and fourth were terrible rebound control and the third was just a terrible decision.

They're just old. That's what happens sometimes when you're old and it's a young men's league.

Not everyone is old. But everyone is gassed. We were down 3 or 4 goals in the 3rd or something like that to this very team in Janurary.

And we brought up the intensity to score 5 and kept bringing it to them.

Yeah we have been on a decline since he left. I don't see any sign of it getting better.

Lee also took a beating to get his team going, then scored a big goal. Props to him, outside TJ, I didn't see anyone in a red sweater doing that.

Supporting this team is f***ing embarrassing an increasing % of the time.

Donezo list if this continues for the rest of the series:
Kempny
Vrana
Holtby
Kovalchuk (not that that matters)
Kuznetsov

Trade them or let them walk. I don't care about a skill drop off for vrana and kuzy, we need more Oshie's. He's an absolute gamer, no one could get close to his level effort wise and it's unacceptable

I mean one could tell when the team is this old they physically wouldn't be able to come back from such deficits all the time. The best part from the quote I posted from twitter is the guy thinks the Caps are ready to implode and when this said not by a couch expert but by a NHL coach who knows his shit then it's pretty telling.
