just curious, did you think they made the majority of their profits off of selling junk? i honestly dont know, i dont watch it. i thought it was obvious that they made their money by putting what they do on a reality show, creating false drama, and getting….um….i’ll say ‘people’ to watch. same ‘business model’ for people killing ducks, or dancing, or singing, or making fish tanks, or whatever the hell else people are doing nowadays. the ****stain rash called ‘reality television’ would go by the wayside if people turned off the channel and enjoyed their own life instead.

No; that was the point of my first post. I call BS. But if you watch the show, they make it seem like they judiciously have to count Ps&Qs, because it's a business etc... They give the viewer the perception that the two of them are making careers of traveling all over the country doing this (i.e. not including History Channel's money).

Has anyone talked about the attempt at lowering the blood/alcohol legal level while driving to .05?
Apparently when places in Europe did this the drunk driving deaths were cut in half. Kindve hard to argue with those results when it's talking about saving lives vs having a good time.

Study?

Difficult to believe given most drunk driving deaths occur when the person is WAY over .10.

This is something that my guess is that people don't know, but even though .10 is "drunk driving" in America, very few deaths occur from that level of drunk driving. So it literally makes no sense to me mathematically that lowering the level from that level would halve deaths.

they do it in all these shows, it's really just to give some kind of drama to the shows instead of just being an antique roadshow clone.

i know people in pretty much all of these industries, and none of them function that way, obviously.
antique dealers don't go on cross-country "picking" trips. they let most of this stuff come to them, but that's not as good for t.v.
storage locker buyers don't do it for a living or to find big ticket items, it's a weekend hobby or a way for people who own consignment shops to fill their shelves.
and needless to say most pawn shops don't buy historical documents.

none of these people actually find priceless gems in an old shoe, nor do they live off of these things. but it sure is more compelling if history channel makes you think they do

i wish they would go back to all nazis, all the time

<-- Antiques Roadshow

My nominee for most ridiculously inserted fake drama for a reality TV show goes to that Extreme Couponing show.

Exactly

Or something history-related. Civil War, AWI, WWII, etc... there's virtually no history on the History Channel. Instead there's ghosts, aliens, and white trash doing a variety of strange things.

That would be a prosecutor's dream and a defense-attorney's nightmare.

Today someone from Maryland and 8 miles away from Washington D.C. tried to hack my Facebook account.

I'm currently getting a federal background check done and had my fingerprints submitted to the FBI. Coincidence?

(For my internship since I work in a federal building)

I could never live in n.TX, OK, KS etc.... because of this. Every year this story is retold, though usually as luck would have it they don't hit in an urban area like this for reasons of statistical probability. Live pictures coming in on CNN and FoxNews makes it look like a bomb was dropped. :(

There is a Bloods gang in NJ that uses the Devils logo as a symbol via a tat. Ask any corrections officer or state police anti-gang officers.
