1 ES goal in his last 29 Playoff games.

No ES assists in his last 14 Playoff games.

In his last 28 Playoff games he has 1 ES goal and 4 ES assists for 5 ES points.

He is great on the PP but apart from that how is this guy not a choker?

And when you're paid what he's paid, you're expected to be a threat at even strength, and he's been anything but for some time now.

It's really hard to argue against these numbers.

That'll show him. That'll get the team some wins!

Remove a letter. Problem solved!

If the C is taken from Stamkos, who is there who could assume the C? With the Sharks, at least they had Pavelski. With the Devils way back, it was Jamie Langenbrunner/Patrik Elias.

And keep him on the team? What does that accomplish besides pissing him off? Trade him if you really want to change something
It's been done before to Modano in Dallas, Thornton in SJ, Brown in LA, Girardi in NYR. It's not unprecedented. With likely the exception of NYR, media isn't going to go insane about the change.

Linden to Messier was a massive issue. And the media took it and ran.

But, we are talking TB here, so the media talking about it won't be as bad. It would be at the level in Dallas and SJ and LA.

But, you have to make sure Stamkos is on board with it. Need his buy-in. Bigger issue if it goes to Point. If it goes to Hedman, I'd think Stamkos would be ok with that.

We've seen enough of him to say confidently that he is. He's literally never had a good playoff run and he already has about 70 playoff games. Alex Killorn has been more valuable to us in the playoffs. In our longest playoff run with him, 2015, he was scoreless in 2 of the 4 series, including the finals against the Hawks.

I remembered him being noticeable in 2011 against the Bruins. But that was the last time. I thought taking the puck to the face would slow him down, but it didn’t all that much.

Remember how for years people unfairly tried to paint Ovi as a big goal scorer who “disappeared in the playoffs”? Not a description that was accurate for him, but it’s always been accurate of Stamkos.

It’s been like a decade now waiting for him to show up in the spring.

"Should we judge individuals purely through the success of their team?"

It's hockey, so despite the mountain of reasons why that's silly, of course we should!

Stamkos isn't the right scapegoat, even though as a leader he definitely holds some culpability. He was one of our best players in the Capitals series and I honestly don't think he's been the problem so far. In Game 1, which was far more open, he had 4-5 great chances. In Game 2 we were down and out quickly, and Columbus shut everything down because they could afford to hang back.

Right now our issues are defense and goaltending. When those two hold, and you don't give up the early lead, it's amazing how much things open up for your offense.

He did some damage on the PP but had ZERO pts 5v5. He was a complete no show, just like he is every season.

You need more than one trick to matter in the playoffs

Well he's only played in the playoffs a handful of times. Its not like he's been in it every year for the passed decade.

I don't think he should have gotten the letter to begin with, but i don't see how stripping the letter from him is going to do anything positive.

He is the Rick Nash of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

If Stamkos could have produced, the Bolts would already have a Cup. If Nash could have performed for the Rangers, they would have a Cup too.

He is a regular season performer who cant do much outside of the PP.

Im not sure how stripping him of the C improves the team. There is only so much impact a captain has. They are being out coached. That is why they are losing.
