Hard to believe the season is less then 24 hours away. Heard they are in talks for a last minute deal to try and expand the playoffs. I say f*** it as I think my phillies can make the playoffs without it but if they do expand then we better make it. Spencer Howard folks, kid is going to turn some heads this season, sick FB.

They'll need him to do well, this is only a good but not great rotation on paper and Wsh/Atl won't go down easy. I dig your optimism though ;)

After Nola Wheeler it's a lot of question marks as we don't know how good Howard will be in his rookie year.

Eflin has been inconsistent but at the end of last year just got sick of the pitching coach and went back to doing what he wanted and looked much better. That pitching coach was then let go in the off-season but Eflin has had some back issues lately so they don't know where he's at. They moved him down to the 5th spot to give more time.

Arrieta is in the 4th spot, it's the final year of his contract but I don't know how much he has left in the tank as he has been more or less a bust for the money they paid him.

Velasquez is in the 3 hole as they have to wait a week for Howard in order to push back his free agent clock by a year. Vinny Velo in the 3 spot is scary as he's been mega inconsistent but so far has looked much better under the new pitching coach. That said I won't believe in him until I see the results as he's one of those that looks good the first time through but by the 4th, 5th inning he's getting hit around and always ends up throwing way too many pitches so he's lucky if he makes past the 5th. But he could just be holding Howard's spot for a game as week 2 he can come in and I would be shocked if he doesn't although they could put him in the 5th spot to give Eflin more time if VV actually looks the part on Sunday.

Then there's just the whole situation, how will any team do and the players react after working hard in the off-season, you get maybe half way through spring training and then you are shut down for 4 months or so and then it's how quickly can players ramp up in time for the season. So you got to think some hitters are going to be behind on their timing, some pitchers might be a bit rusty while others that were injured or guys that have a lot of miles on them might benefit from sitting for that long and only having to play however many starts over 60 games.

It's going to be very interesting for sure.

I'm a default Jays fan till Montreal gets a team again, watching the kids develop is going to be the main thing for me  They're good enough to play .500 ball though so they might actually surprise.

Same here. With the playoffs expanding this is huge news for teams like the jays.

Welp the dodgers are gonna be hard to beat in the national that's for sure :surrender . Not that the Giants are much of a challenge right now but that batting order is as deep as it gets.

I should stop buying jerseys... Adams is a hell of a player. It's too bad he's been such a shit on social media the past year.

Don't say anything at all
Alright, I think Montreal will get a new MLB team in the next round of expansion.

But Olympic Stadium is not suitable anymore.

The best course would be to demolish it and build a brand new ballpark (with a retractable roof of course) on its site.

These same Marlins have already played 3 games in Philadelphia.

Multiple sources confirmed that the Marlins played despite having three players learn Sunday that they’d tested positive for COVID-19, just two days after a fourth player learned of a positive test on Friday. Two infectious-disease specialists told The Athletic on Sunday that those positive tests fit the definition of a “clear outbreak” of the virus within their team. But sources said those tests were not enough for either Major League Baseball or the club itself to give serious consideration to postponing this game.

....

“No. 1 is, if I get a negative result back today, that doesn’t mean that I’m negative and not infectious right now,” he said. “It means I was negative or not infectious when I got that test. If that was yesterday, it means I wasn’t infectious yesterday.
“The other thing,” he said, “is that this disease can take several days to show itself – by which I mean you don’t test positive immediately after you’ve been exposed. You test positive three, five, seven days after you’ve been exposed. So it’s possible that some of these players or staff are incubating the infection right now and could turn up positive when they get the results back from another round of testing, say, in a couple of days.”

Four more Marlins test positive bringing the total up to 17.

The good news is that no Phillies (players or staff) tested positive after playing the Marlins over the weekend.

Today's NYY-PHI game is, again, postponed (at least as of now).
