What was asked? I cut out.
He questioned why Marc Crawford is being be considered for the HC job when he was partially responsible for this team being last in goals against for the past 2 seasons. He was pretty direct and to the point, very refreshing coming from anyone in the Ottawa media.

I can only assume that he was escorted out immediately after he asked the question.

Fair question and I just saw his answer which is fair. I did see improvements overall under Crawford to warrant him being a candidate.

Raymond and the other guy should be canned though

Not sure if people actually wanted Pierre to say that they are hoping to win the lottery next year. Everyone knows they will not contend for the playoffs, but saying to try and make the playoffs is just as basic a goal that can be said. They all say that. Oilers have said that. Buffalo has said that.

Not sure why the anger over it.

He shouldn't have said anything honestly. I realize he's in a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation (of his own creation) but you can't tell people you're gonna push for a playoff spot next year on the same day you're about to hand over a top-pick because your team sucked so bad for the better part of two years.

Well I must say the backend of his interview was a bit better.

He apologised for some past quotes and seemed at least aware that there is discontent in the fanbase now. It's progress.
I appreciated this.

It's baby steps, but my issues with this org are almost entirely about the insulting, patronizing and condescending manner in which they've dealt with and communicated with the fans.

It's so much less about budget than is assumed. We're Ottawa Senators fans, so we're used to the budget standing in the way for pretty much the entire history of the team.

Brennan is a plug but he was spot on with the questions today. Would love keeping Kelly around as assistant coach too.

You are right. Tough spot. I think the fact that he says they will get very, very little July 1, kind of speaks more than anything else.

Oh yeah I agree.

But the first step in rectifying the relationship, is admitting there is a problem in the first place. In past interviews, they were acting as if everything was rosy and they had full backing of the fanbase.

I agree, there is still a long way to go, there can talk as much as they want, but until there is action behind the words, people will continue to be skeptical.

It was good that he acknowledged that he has to remember he is a GM, and not a head scout. Baby steps indeed

Dorion had to do the interview today because when they lose the draft lottery tonight he won’t talk again until pick #19

Casual fans don’t want to hear “we are planning on sucking this year”, there’s no way for Dorion to sell that to one half of the fans.

I think when you look at our roster objectively, we have no idea where we are going to land next year. If guys like Brannstrom, Brown, Batherson and Formenton are lights out coming out of camp, we might be better than this year, considering the fact that we are bringing in a new coach.

When you look at the backend, and the lack of veterans, in combination with likely leaning on Anderson again, I don’t see how we aren’t a bottom 5 team, but weirder things have happened.

Agreed. I wrote that out strangely, but I meant to say that I felt like he did acknowledge some of my concerns and I appreciated hearing that for what feels like the first time.

Stubborn arrogance is not usually an endearing quality.

First, PD can't say anything about tanking or the NHL would be all over him for that, remember the last time an Ott team said something regarding tanking, they got hell for it. And he has to also give the STH some hope for next season without saying the truth. He has to give an illusion of trying while at the same time & it is blatantly obvious since he has reduced his team to mostly prospects which should assure a bottom dweller again next season. IMO it's a blatant attempt at going for the lottery in the 2020 draft where he has two first rd picks & could add another while at the same time saying in public they expect to content for a playoff spot which IMO is unrealistic & I think everybody knows it.

I would be okay with Crawford returning to coach the team next season, afterall, they are going to suck again next yr anyway with so many young players on their roster & the team losing more UFA vets again next season. It might be unfair to a new coach to expect him to do well when at the same time you are hoping to tank & not giving him the appropriate players/vets he might need to win. I would like to see Raymond canned & Mann brought up as an assistant coach & they should keep Chris Kelly. What they do need is a much better coach to coach the defence, Luke Richardson would be great at it, but maybe so could Chris Phillips, he's not that far removed from the NHL.

Head Coach - Marc Crawford
Asst Coach - Troy Mann - PP/PK
Asst Coach - Chris Kelly - forwards
Asst Coach - Chris Phillips - defence
Asst Coach - Pierre Groulx - goalies (Anderson maybe when he retires)

Belleville Senators - HC - Andre Tourigny

"I want my picks back and I want your goddamn 7th round pick for my 6th rounder in the deal because I feel like it" - Pierre every trade probably
