Wow a Country Music thread? Nice.

Country is probably my first choice in terms of music I enjoy, with my favorite groups being The Dixie Chicks (Despite the comments, I still think they are one of the best country bands ever) and SheDaisy (For the Harmonies). Right now, I can take anything, even Taylor Swift which I find is an infectious singer (Speak Now is an album I actually bought). I think in terms of favorite right now, I'd have to say Miranda Lambert (Revelation, while a bit loud, was a great album) and for the guys Jamey Johnson (Guitar Song was one of the best albums that came out last year. Going back to the Shedaisy thing, I like Harmony, so I also like groups like Little Big Town and the Zac Brown Band.

Any good albums coming out this year? I bought Chief from Eric Church which was pretty good, but it seems this has been a bland year in terms of "stand-outs".

I recently saw Toby Keith and Eric Church in concert. It was a blast!!!

I also love Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, Billy Currington and tons more

I am glad Rucker moved on to country. I was a fan of Hootie & the Blowfish and his voice is really cut out well for the country/folk genre. Really wish we had seen him at the rodeo this past year, but oh well, lesson learned.

Agreed. Loved Hootie & the Blowfish. Going Country was a pretty big risk too. Good for him that it has paid off. It is amusing seeing so many youtube comments saying "I heard this on the radio. He is black?!!"

Lol, I'll have to check those comments out later. The ones from Charlie Pride's videos are pretty good too talking about how he doesn't dress country, but is singing it.

I enjoy most new country and some old country. Introduced to it my dad. First I knew of it as a genre was Garth Brooks and have worked my way back and forward with it. Being in the UK, I'm a little starved of country artists gigging, so I make the most of those who come over. I've seen live over here Brad Paisley twice, Darius Rucker, Martina McBride, Zac Brown Band, Ryan Bingham, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Hayseed Dixie and Taylor Swift twice (the missus is a fan). Also made it over to Nashville last year for the CMA festival, there were more than a few treats that week.

Probably my least favourite genre. Outside of Cash I can only find myself being able to enjoy some gothic country, of which 16 Horsepower stands out far above the rest.

Figured I would bump this thread. Summer is usually a time when a lot of new songs are coming out and it's perfect weather for country music.

I saw Billy Currington with Kip Moore and David Nail a few weeks ago and it was a great concert. Solid set list and look out for '23 degrees' and 'Coconut Tree' from Billy, they should both hit the charts.

Just got my tickets to see the Capital City Hoedown. Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, and Reba are the headliners but the Band Perry, Ronnie Dunn, Sheryl Crow and others will be in attendance. Looking forward to that.

Anyway, here's a few songs that I'm enjoying right now:

Just bought tickets to see Travis Tritt in concert.

I'll repose my question: Anyone have any stories from country music concerts/festivals?
I liked when the country stations used to throw a birthday breakfast concert at one of the local casinos each month... Rockie Lynne was the last one they had (that I know of) and I was so impressed by his performance that I bought his CD when it came out the following week...

He autographed the photo I got after the concert with "God bless THE Salvation Army!" when he noticed that handsome Salvation Army soldier in line for a photo... He also signed one for my major as well... I believe that major STILL has that picture hanging in his office...

Lots of albums out recently...picked up Chad Brownlee's, Carrie Underwood's and Dean Brody's CD's in the last couple weeks. Any other recent good ones out there? Chad covered OCMS's wagon wheel in his, made me very happy.

Gord Bamford is in town on Thurday, I'm pretty pumped. He's playing at the seniors centre so should be rocking???? Hahaha

Lots of great shows there! I flew down to Nashville in February to see Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, it was very much worth it. Seen Tim McGraw a few times now, he never seems to come anywhere close to where I'm living anymore though :(

Sorry to bring this up but didn't really want to start a new thread. Picked up Little Big Town's new album, "Tornado" this last week and have to say while I don't think it's as good as Road to Here or A Place to Land, it's still very enjoyable. The production could be a little loud, but the harmonies are still there. Also, because of that, I've been on a Little Big Town binge lately. They really have released some good stuff over the years. They really are one of the underrated groups in the format.

I have to admit that country is my favorite music genre-I was banned from listening to it as a kid, because my mum didn't like it. I found ways when I was an older teenager to sneak it in-Taylor Swift etc. And now I'm an adult and have my own iPod with my own iTunes account, she can't stop me from listening to my beloved Johnny Cash, Zac Brown Band, Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley (but not the song Accidental Racist, that crap's terrible)!
