It's that time of year. The trade deadline approaches and the Wild haven't exactly positioned themselves to make a run for it this year. Word is that Guerin is at least thinking about selling if not necessarily committed to it. Dreams of high draft picks begin to dance through the minds of Wild fans...

Please keep the tank talk in this thread: watching the standings, doing the lottery math, and lamenting those icky, short sighted wins.

It's a valid topic and up for discussion, but as the season wears on it tends to seep into every thread and derail things. There's some wiggle room for this in trade and prospect discussion threads, but GDTs in particular are for discussing the game at hand and the play of the team.

Off-topic tank talk that's found outside of this thread will likely be moved here or deleted.

    Have at it.

    I don't think he'll drop to 12th.

We were so bad at the beginning of the year I haven’t let go of a top three pick

CL is the opposite of Melnyk, which at times can be just as dangerous. And I don't know why you are surprised that the largest city in the US doesn't have much of a problem putting butts in seats.

With 30 seconds left in the CGY-NSH game and NSH losing by 1, I told my Flames fan friend that I would have liked it to go to OT, and Granlund scored with less than a second left to tie it.

And Granlund wins in OT which is best case scenario for us

We're on pace for 90 points right now, which barring last year when the 8th seed had 90, is typically not enough to make the playoffs.

Only one Western Conference team has made the playoffs with less than 90 points in the last two decades- the Wild in 2015-16 with 87.

    Sign Granlund.

EDIT: if we do move Parise for Futures, I would be intrigued as to what kinda deal Granny would want. If it’s under 5, I would give him a 4 year deal.

He leads NSH in goals since January 16th.

Trade Zuccarello and Parise, sign Granlund to Zuccarello's contract without the NMC

    Granlund-Ek-Kunin

Lol I just changed my post to say something like this. If we can get out from under Parise I’d do it. No shot we can move on from Zuccarello though.

Back on track! If we could only bundle Fiala, the 4 th line, and Spurgeon onto a slow train to Montana our tank would start to hum.

Nostalgic for the tank. Such a clear roadmap forward.

One lesson learned: winning the draft lottery would trump winning the UFA lottery.

Some good old fashioned blind squirrel/acorn luck would be most welcome if they somehow barely miss the playoffs and have a crap lotto chance. We deserve it dammit.

The team is too good to truly tank still... except maybe if you keep Dubnyk in net every game.

Yeah, I was all aboard the tank train earlier in the season but this team has become too good for that. I want to see them in the playoffs. They may not be a cup competitor but it would be good for the development of the younger players. I want to see which ones bring it in the post season and which ones disappear.

Safe to say the tank is dead with so few games left?

Still have some tough games left.

    Vegas
    @ Philly
    @ Winnipeg
    @ St. Louis
    @ NYI
    @ Washington
    Colorado
    H&H's against Nashville and Chicago

Only 2 "easy" ones: Buffalo and New Jersey at home.

If Stalock doesn't keep it up, there's a lot of loseable games there.

Yeah, if they lose like 3-4 straight and fall way behind, people will call for the tank again.

Not anticipating a bottom 10 finish anymore, but still hoping we miss the playoffs so they can rig the lotto and give us our top 3 pick.

I’m nuetral at this point. I’m just cheering for Fiala and his quest to 70 points. If we end in the playoffs, screw it. Let’s take down Vegas

Same here, though if we make the playoffs I want to be playing in the West. I'm tired of the teams in our division. Also want Brodin to get 30 points.

Well if there was ever a time to revive this, it's when you can lose three games to have a 12.5% chance at Lafreniere

Maybe our goalies will just suck, and we can lose without actually tanking it?
