Aw man I was late to respond to the Leafs thread

This Jets thread is soooo much better than the Leafs thread. We definitely needed another thread to be reminding that Toronto drafter Marner, Nylander, and Matthews.

Impressive drafting by the Jets here though. They seem to have hit a step above their draft position most of the time.

To put this into perspective, the Sabres only have one bust over the same period.

2011 - Joel Armia
2012 - Mikhail Grigorenko
2013 - Rasmus Ristolainen
2014 - Sam Reinhart
2015 - Jack Eichel
2016 - Alexander Nylander
2017 - Casey Mittelstadt
2018 - Rasmus Dahlin

And TO has two

2011 - Tyler Biggs
2012 - Morgan Rielly
2013 - Frederik Gauthier
2014 - William Nylander
2015 - Mitch Marner
2016 - Auston Matthews
2017 - Timothy Liljegren
2018 - Rasmus Sandin

Sooo....

If you ignore the past 2 drafts (it's too early to declare any busts), Edmonton's average first pick from 2011-2016 was 2.8! Three 1st overalls, 5 out of 6 picks in the top 5, and their "worst" pick was 7th overall. So to whoever was saying the Oilers had only 1 bust - well, congrats I guess... :sarcasm:

Buffalo had two 2nds, no other top 5 picks, and a range of 2-16, for an average of 8.0 (2nd best).

Winnipeg had a 2nd overall in 2016, no other top 5 picks, and a range of 2-17 for an average of 9.5 (6th).

Toronto had a 1st overall in 2016, two other top 5 picks (4th and a 5th overall) and range of 1-22 for an average of 10.2 (9th).

Some of those teams at the bottom have been getting the best bang-for-the-buck on their 1st round drafting (ANA, WAS, CHI).

Roslovic and Vesalainen huh. Neither has shown much of anything at this level

Rosie has been really solid for us out of the games he has played. I think the kid's gonna be good. Vesa needs a little more time in the A or Europe to expand his game, which he will. And I think he's gonna be a beast too.

I'm old enough to remember when Josh morrisey was a bust. Even I thought he was not going to be more then a bottom pairing defender. Big props to the jets scouting and developing team for helping him become a top pairing pmd. On that lost only Stanley has bust potential. The Finnish winger on their 4th line( too lazy to spell his name) is going to replace a guy like ehlers if they ever have the need to trad ehim for defensive help or cap crunch. The only pick that I thought was going to turn out good for the Jets but hasnt was I think their 2nd round pick from 2015. Jensen Harkins. Remember people saying he was a top 25 talent and was a major steal.
"old enough"? You could be 16 and be old enough.
