Anish...you don't know what wRC+ is? And they are all right, Saunders is better hitter than Revere when healthy. Stop being so fixated on his .300 average.
but u gotta wonder how many times revere beat out the call at 1st base that saunders wouldnt have. that lead the way for a few jd hits

that is completely irrelevant to the argument.
To jump onto the point that you quoted, part of the reason why ben revere is not a good lead-off is because when you watch his abs, he either bats a single, or gets a routine groundout/flyout/etc. He's not a multifaceted enough hitter compared to the big bats, and even the bottom of the order. Without the single, he's completely useless. Sure he has the speed to steal bases, but if you need to rely solely on stealing bases, then there's something wrong with the diversity of your toolbox (or lack thereof). the jays need a better bat at #1.
Let me try and make an analogy for people who wont look up advaced stats.
Batting average is like counting how much money you have by counting the total number of bills.
OPS is counting how much total money you have.
wRC+ is like comparing how much money you have relative to everyone else.
So if you look at Revere, he has the most $1 bills of anyone out there for a grand total of $10.
Bautista has only 7 bills, but he has three 5's and four 1's for a grand total of $19 (almost double Revere).
The average person in our league has $12. So judging by that, Revere has 83% what the average is or a "83". Bautista has 158% of the average or "158".
That in a nutshell is a dumbed down example of the logic behind some stats.

thank you. that's a great analogy. Here you go, anish.
same thing could be said bout pompey. Jays only used him for his base stealing ability
ur welcome

pompey has some pop and is a good defender. He isn't just a "base stealer". That might be his current role right now, but he is much better than that.

then y they get him? To get on base and get hits. Sure its only singles but at least he can get singles and hit them quite frequently
well they used him at the end of this season as a base stealer

I bet Anish is pitcher's wins guy, too.
he probably had hutch as a write-in on his all-star game ballot.
i made a new thread. Hopefully the stupidity doesn't follow
