I had pig's tail, pig's feet and black (blood) pudding when I was a kid. My mom said that I really like the tails? I have a vague memory so I was probably 6-7 years old. I even drank some blood (mom did her own recipe of black pudding). I had been playing soccer and came into the kitchen (mom was not there) and saw a container with some reddish fluid. I grabbed a glass and scooped up what I thought was strawberry lemonade or cordial/squash which we make in Sweden and then you mix it with water, usually something like 1 part cordial and 3 or 4 parts of water. Anyway, I did spit out some but most were swallowed.

You know who would approve

Any fan of dry aging meat? I tried a whole filet mignon which was a total fiasco.

Tried bone-in rib roast which was pretty good but it totally change the flavor of the meat. I cooked regular and dry at the same time to compare. Now i'm drying a single tomahawk for 14 days since there will be too much lost if longer.

Such a shame! did proper method?

Not aged method, but makes great steak.

Yes they are. Contraband in the States though back then, today as well?
Ya. Cuban made cigars are illegal where I live. Montecristo has a legal cigar series here. In any case, my favorite smokes, and I’ve been around, are absolutely Henry Clays. Fantastic.

Thought that maybe things have changed over the years. US citizens are permitted to travel there now aren't they? Fascination country and island, very eye opening way back in the day.
I'll ask my more familiar cigar smoking friends about those you mention.

Been jonesing for some vindaloo for sometime and for the umpteenth time, still not right. Tried it with beef and another recipe and not sure why the fiasco again. Not terrible, but not what you expect,if expecting what you get from and Indian restaurant. Some of the flavor is there, just not the proper level of intensiveness.Getting pretty pissed off with the results and usually it's just matter of time before something is perfected. Well there is this and for some reason, pie dough, lack of patience? anyways done with talking about it:mad:

We did a little ''fishing'' and was hoping to snag a few lobsters but no such luck. Did however find the mother-load of sea urchins:thumbu:

It's called the "The Last Dab" because we have a tradition around here where we put a little extra on the last wing. Or whatever Sean Evans says.

Anyway, the Last Dab is super tasty, but very expensive to ship to Canada and very hot. My wife got it for me for my birthday in February, and I've used about half of this tiny bottle (and I have another tiny bottle that's unopened). I heard great reviews about the Melinda's sauce and figured I'd try it even though ghost peppers taste like shit since it was only $10 on Amazon. It's surprisingly tasty! Worth trying if you're into spicy foods / hot sauces.

Sounds crazy hot! is it worth it?

Made hot sauces a few times, but yields too much.

Wouldn't go any hotter than the black bottle

anything above that is simply masochism

How's the carbonara hot sauce? Was personally not impressed by the Buldak carbonara ramen.

In order for ramen:
Buldak 2X Spicy
Buldak Hot / Buldak Mala (would have to re-test close to each other for final ranking)
Buldak Carbonara
Buldak Cheese
Buldak Corn

Didn't try the Jjajang or Curry version yet.

Corn is just weird as it's way too sweet for me. It smelled sweet sweet for like an hour in my kitchen after I opened the pack.

It's nothing special, since that's not high gastronomy stuff. Taste is pretty similar. Wouldn't surprise me if these sauces were simply the broths of the ramen, more concentrated and thickened.

The Last Dab? It's worth it if you can get it without paying the stupid shipping costs from Heatonist. It's expensive, but will last forever and was worth trying, IMO.

Yes,sorry but perhaps I was not clear. Meant worth it in a non financial way, in the sense that if it's that hot and painful,is it worth it,does it enhance the food enough to justify the discomfit, coming and going.
I've had vindaloo from all 4 corners and sometimes it's just too hot, flavorful and tasty yes, just not worth it if you know what I mean.

Ahh, ok.

I think it tastes really good. I don't normally put a lot of the sauce on. I'll add a tiny bit to a bite every now and then. Normally about a third or half of what you see in the picture. I didn't intentionally put that much on that wing, but I wasn't going to waste it..

Opened up a bag of flour that I had just picked up and found ''critters'' scurrying about, disgusting! Put one under the microscope and lets's just say I'm glad they are so minute:phew:

Slim options, didn't feel like doing the 1 hour + roundtrip to exchange and found out freezing them a few days will kill them although it says they are not harmful if digested:dunno: As my friends in Ganzhou say, ''if it crawls, you can cook it'':eek2:

Yikes is right! it's one thing to have creepy crawlers that make it on their own in,now I'm bringing them in? F that! I got birds that make clay nests on the columns near the roof and a few geckos from time to time, but they are kind of pretty and cute. Did get the occasional snake that makes it into the compound and scorpions, but none really since all the construction has finished.

I got some Stroopwafel from Trader Joe's today, imported from the Netherlands.

Geckos are good to have if you are on a vacation living cheap like when I was in Thailand years ago, we had 2-3 lizards and they ate a lot of bugs.

TJ's has some good stuff! probably the best coffee I've had in the States. You've had them before? I like to nuke them a few seconds sometimes to get them warm and gooey. Everyone I've introduced them to get hooked. Got a vid from a market street I like to go to once in a while, shows some street food and how you can get the best stroopwafle. Sometimes I'd go after leaving from a friends coffeeshop and then zone out at the Rijksmuseum and gawk at a couple of Rembrandts, crazy stuff! and then it's snackysnack time:thumbu:

I have no problem with the geckos, unlike some female companions over the years. These guys only come out after dark and usually on the walls or on the ceiling and rarely found inside, but on occasion.Thailand has a wide variety of wildlife and lizards I've seen most places that are warmish and tropical-ish. Those don't bother me,did have a huge Cuban iguana one time just as I opened the door, was just there staring at me,one of us was more startled than the other, not saying who though. Another place was just coming back from a casino and grabbed a beer and went out on the balcony and a male peacock was sleeping there,he just kept blinking like I shouldn't be there and he was there every night while we were there, odd.
Guess the scariest was a massive, and I mean massive python that was on the front porch and wouldn't leave until sound stray dogs came around.
