It's too bad that there's a general stereotype that "the Devilz has no fanz" because we definitely have one of the loudest playoff arenas in the entire league.

I dont agree with this.

Perhaps this existed 10 or 12 years ago, but today I'd say that opinion's pretty much "dead" to all but the most uninformed hockey fans and/or people who are just trying to troll-bait you, and even those trolls know it's not actually true.

Zajac is a damn machine and I never want to hear a bad word about him again. For what it's worth.

I've been wondering about swapping him and Zacha lately. Zajac is playing great along the boards and helping in creating looks offensively, Zacha apparently was really effective in shutting down (I believe it was) McDavid in one playoff year in juniors...but is still not doing much in the way of offense.

On one hand you have to worry about limiting the effectiveness of the checking line on Kucherov/Stamkos, but on the other hand you get Zajac playing with better offensive players and giving us a 2nd line to match up against the Point/Johnson line.

I’ve seen 3 Devils hats and a Devils golf polo on the streets today.

I work in Center City Philadelphia.

We have fans.

Rewatched the game highlights (again) and I somehow hate Lovejoy even more.

Why is he chasing the puck behind the goal on Tampa’s first goal?

Sadly the puck wasn’t even behind the net...It was in the corner. Lovejoy was just taking the scenic route to where he actually belonged... in front of the net...smh

Chanting a*****e at out of town people and families is not "all in good fun", it's an indication of low-class. You can raz fans without cursing in public and/or trying to mob intimidate them. :teach2:

Well, it's certainly not an excuse, but when about 500 Devils fans get enough booze in them... You know...

As for the low-class thing, well, we're probably entering a time in our history where lots of people about age 21-25 still with lots of growing up to do (myself included) can now afford tickets to games like this in larger numbers.

We talk a lot of **** about certain New York fans and Philly fans, when in reality, Devils fans are pretty much the same type of people. It probably won't ever change enough to shake the stereotype of Jersey people.

Lovejoy is not the problem on that goal, the problem is Coleman completely vacating the center of the ice.

The problem on the 2nd Tamp powerplay goal is not on defense either, but on the forward (Nico) giving WAY too much space to Stamkos. That is a mistake that neither Gibbons nor Grabner (PK specialists) would have made.

it was quite a sight to see around 7pm

one TB fan in a stamkos jersey smoking a cigarette by taste venue, while a good 100 people chanted asshole, with the guy just smirking and encouraging the fans to pile it on him

in THAT situation, it's most definitely in good fun for the majority. not gonna say there aren't people who are filled with unnecessary vitriol, but that happens

Pretty much this. I was gonna say I too was right in the middle of all that before the game and when Tampa fans walked by the boos and the a-hole chants were in full effect, but I do believe there's a huge difference between that and physically approaching them and telling them to go home or whatever.

My 67-year-old father was chanting "asshole" too.

All you need to do is look at the comments to the screenshot of the jumbotron last night with the Rangers logo saying "Next Game: Sept. 2018." It's gone viral on a lot of hockey accounts and almost every comment is Rangers fans saying "I guess they're looking forward to their next sellout." It's still a very common opinion that the Devils don't sellout or draw well.

that place was rocking. i thought the fans were going to take the glass down after the coleman elbow

We have strips over in 104 and so we had a good look at the thin edge of the glass from above (and afar) as they were rocking against it and man that thing was all kinds of warped when they were going at it. Had to be pushed near the threshold of a panel popping out. Some staff came out to give it a once over afterwards just to be sure.

The atmosphere was great last night, very tense for much of the game but each goal was pandemonium. Especially the 3-2 go ahead which ignited the place like a powder keg and there was no turning back since that's the first time they held a lead during the series. The chants became thunderous (MVP/KILL/LGD...take your pick). Then those ENGs in succession to seal the deal, place was rockin!

see man reading that gives me goosebumps. i really wish they would've shown more of the crowd/building last night or not talk and let the sound of the building come through. i know tv did it no justice and have to be there to feel the energy. was this a legit packed sellout?

Not sure on the sellout numbers but I'll say the place was pretty well packed.

Empty seats were akin to a few dead pixels on a huge LCD screen of RED. The uppers and 100s were definitely packed and if I noticed any empties it was most likely in the more costly black seats in Section 8 or similar.

I'm looking forward to watching the game replay tonight just to take in all the sights and sounds again. I watched the condensed version before bed last night but that was it.

It was absolutely packed. Visually, it was a sellout. I know this is a bold statement with the Rangers series and Cup final, but last night was the most raucous atmosphere I can remember. Fans were standing for large portions of the game, people were waving flags/banners/signs all over the arena, and the crowd was engaged with every single play. It seemed like every person in the building was engaged in the on-ice play at all times. The place was a madhouse. It was the atmosphere I've been waiting for Devils fans to reach for a long time, and that's with 2012 being a pretty wild environment in itself.

In BG’s defense, he did specify “uninformed” fans. :naughty:

Now the loser who showed up on Edison Place in a knock-off Lundpads jersey absolutely deserved the asshole chants.
