Or maybe the team has actually done quite well after having the toughest opponents of any team in the NHL to start the season. The Jets are 7-2-2 outside the Central and have played far more games in the Central than any other team. if we'd played the same number of games within our division as the other Central Division teams have, we'd likely be well over .500 like they are. Our record so far is an illusion based on an imbalanced schedule. After today, we've only got 15 games in the Central left, as opposed to 26 against the East. it's time to stop ignoring this obvious explanation for the 'slow' start.
Yea I have mentioned this before....usually we like to play down to our competition so who knows but our effort level and compete has been pretty good this season.....we are clearly the Hawks ***** but other than that we play teams pretty tough night on night out.
That being said do we really just keep plugging along status quo if we miss the playoffs for the 4th time with this core including Atlanta and the 3rd time with this coach? Brutal division but do we adapt and react or just double down on the same hand? I know this isn't NHL 13 but sooner or later "the coach" Ladd, Little, Wheeler, Buff, Toby, Pavs, Kane, and Bogo will need to be reengineered. Not saying all the pieces have to go but Chevy may need to start facing the reality that it may never happen with this group "as is, intact".
draft and develop is a great "partial plan" but unfortunately it is now table stakes if anyone wants to be a serious franchise. That is the reality of the new NHL so I doubt we are catching anyone napping because everyone else gets to draft each year as well. on top of the D and D patience plan we will need to maximize assets on the parent club constantly and continually. growing old with a roster that is not a playoff team while we wait for 7th to 10th overall type picks to magically change our faite is not a plan....its an excuse.
