So far. The avs look great. Im a canucks fan but when i look at this team. i predict that the avs will be the most improved team and will make a strong push for the playoffs this year. Your top 3 lines are sick. Having a 3rd line of McKinnon, McGinn and parentau should make this team dangerous. If stastny bounces back to his old form and landy stays healthy. i could see this team be one of the highest scoring teams. That being said. I'm having trouble deciding between jamie McGinn and Tomas hertl(from the sharks) in my pool. who is on a line with Thornton and Brent burns. Its a really deep league. A straight up points, head to head pool. Hertl is only 19 but he's 6'2" and nearly 200 pounds which should help him physically stand up to the rigours of an NHL season. He's found good chemistry with the top line but I could see McGinn having a real breakout. He has also seemed to develops really good chemistry with McKinnon and PAP. They both have 3 points in the first two games. And both got power play time. My question is. Do you think that mcginn will continue to produce offensively? and Do you think that line will stick together for the duration of the season?

Yes, I think Roy would like to keep that line together. Injuries or slumps may force otherwise but at least I see MacKinnon and McGinn sticking together. They are just now developing chemistry and seem to be off the ice as well. So yes, I don't see why that line will stop producing any time soon.

My impression is that Benoit is the safer bet while Johnson is the boom/bust type for offense. I also think that Benoit's safer offense is probably pretty close to what Johnson's boom is, right around 30-35 points. Maybe I'm wrong here though, we have limited views of Benoit, Johnson has put up 39 points in a season, and Johnson hasn't put up points very well the last couple years.

Agreed. EJ is a good all-around D-man, but not really spectacular in any one area. Benoit definitely has more potential for scoring, especially since he's the go-to guy on the power play.

Ej just hasn't found his offensive game with us, would go with Benoit if you had to choose between these two, but honestly there should be better options than either of these two.

There really isn't a great answer to give you. Both play big minutes and play on the PP. Benoit was brought in as an offensive/PP specialist. EJ is the guy who fills all roles for us. We hope he's going to find his offensive game again but we need to see it first. He's been jumping in the play and shooting more. We just really don't know, it's too early to tell. Barrie might get some points as well, he's more offensive but doesn't get as many minutes. As people have said before, Benoit might be the safer bet for points and EJ is the real wild card.

Right now its probably Benoit.

But if EJ's play so far this year is any indicator of what's to come for him, then IMO it wont be long before he's putting up points at a 35-40 Point pace. I refuse to believe that he can play this well both offensively and defensively all season and still struggle to pick up even an assist.

thanks!

Hejda decent pick up off waivers?

League stats and other available defenders?

I took Hejda over Ehrhoff in my league which considered Hits, Blocks, +/-. He was a very good pickup for me and worked out well before his injury, then I nabbed Sekera off the waiver wire and will be keeping him while hot.

Hejda is a steady guy that will get some occasional points, but he's also getting older and more prone to injuries. So if hits, blocks and +/- aren't considered you're better off going elsewhere probably.

This is coming from a guy #1 in both my fantasy leagues.

Supposed to be Varly. I haven't heard of a change of plan. He's going to get 2-3 games off next week.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm assuming they would go Berra for one game and Giguerre would get the other?

As an OT, I'm glad the Avs aren't in the Kings division.

You guys have an excellent future. Do not be discouraged if playoff success does not happen this year, it will happen eventually. Looking forward to watching the matchup versus the Hawks in the 1st round.

Giggy gets the Oilers, Berra the Sharks, Varly the rest of the games and game 82 is yet to be determined.

Thanks for the well wishes. And yes, Varly is a go for tomorrow.
