They could have 20 picks! What they have done is so dangerous. They have stripped it to the wood. It takes 5-10 years to rebuild. Teams like the Islanders have players on their roster that they drafted in 2008.

The Canucks, who may be the poster child, for down years and then a rebound. Started their rebuild with a pick in 2013 ...7 drafts ago And are only now resurfacing. And even they may still collapse.

Only 2 players from the 2017 playoff runs are here, Ryan and Anderson. Anderson will be gone this off season, Ryan is a 2/3 line player, only here because of an insane contract. Other veteran players are all destined to leave within a season. And those that may stay, are marginally talented.

OMG..I hope that all of you rejoicing in this and calling for any player above the age of 23 to be traded, will still be happy if this team is near the bottom in another 3-4 years.

Is there anyone on this team between the age of 23 and 30 that is a top 9 forward or a top 4 D and can play?

On a bright side, with the team having to find ways to fill the building, we should get 2 jersey retirement ceremonies a year over the next 5 years. It won't be long before Dany Heatley gets his jersey retired.

Other schemes will be needed, so:
We will have a night to honor Matt Cooke. We can have it sponsored by Pampered Chef. Everyone who walks in, gets an 8" knife. In Plastic, of course.
A "we are the world night" were we will honor Cherry and Peters.

Something has gone seriously wrong if we are rebuilding for 10 years.

I can't speak for others, but I'm fine being crappy for three years as long as we are acquiring elite talent at the top of the draft.
