Luc Robitaille ($46) - Jarome Iginla ($13) - Marian Hossa ($12)
Sergei Zubov ($64) - Lyle Odelein ($27)
Tomas Vokoun ($20)

Total: $182

My limited knowledge of Hockey History probably let me down here so I'm sure someone could improve the team. If a centre was needed then Eddie Olczyk ($68) seems like the obvious option though you'd have to replace Odelein with someone cheaper like Ron Hainsey ($16).

You can't use Owen Nolan lol. Quebec and Colorado are considered one franchise in this game. Therefore he played over 5 seasons of games and it'd be impossible to pick him.

The rules didn't mention anything about franchises moving and become a new team. The Avs generally only consider what is done in Colorado to be part of the Avalanche history.

In this game, teams that have relocated are counted as one to avoid the loophole you did. That's why I quoted you to tell you. If you think you can get a player like that caliber, that easy it's likely not possible. You can try again. If you wish to ignore that's fine but any Avs lineup consisting of Nolan for $9 is considered "cap circumvention", and will be ignored as a legit roster.

Hartford + Carolina = 1 team
Quebec + Avs = 1 team
Atlanta + Winnipeg = 1 team

What you call cap circumvention, I call emulating the Blackhawks. What I did was legal according to the posted rules at the time I did it, therefore the new rules don't apply to me. :sarcasm:

Lots of people taking Paul Coffey because of his brief stints with their team but you are getting credit for their entire career so do you really want Paul Coffey? Probably not --he was brutal for a long time at the end and only stuck around the league because of his name.

Fun one for SJ:
Darche (2)- Roenick (111)-Guerin (16)
Carkner (1) - Karlsson (53)
Belfour (13)

$196

Overspent on Roenick but can still make a lineup! Darche and Carkner just gotta be carried a bit

Habs:

Alex Semin (15) - Alex Tanguay (50) - Thomas Vanek (18) = (83)
Tomas Kaberle (53) - Sergei Gonchar (45) = (98)
Tony Esposito (13) = (13)

Total = 194$

Yeah Habs are surprisingly bad for this but probably someone who knew pre-1950 all stars would find some good picks. A few HOF I found were Joe Malone (58) and Gordie Drillon (49)

EDIT: Another HOF Harry Cameron (16) plus found a nice bargain pick Francois Beachemain (1)

EDIT: It's come to my attention that Reed Larson was a beast according to @North Cole's post. A guy I respect in the numbers game.

Pronger - R. Larson (Previously Spacek)

Gerber (or Bryzgalov)

$198 -> $177

$200 game is for wimps, how about a $500 game for an entire position-minded roster?

Player ($) [pts]

F - J. Jokinen ($14) [563pts] / V. Damphousse ($80) [1205pts] / Geoff Courtnall ($12) [799pts]
D - C. Pronger ($80) [698pts] / R. Larson ($10) [685pts]
G - M. Gerber ($3) [0.911sv% & 2.63GAA]

Total = 3,950 points at $199.
Not sure how to make a better Oilers roster given the constraints. Tough team.

HM: G - Jim Corsi ($26).
He sucks but we get extra points cause he understands advanced stats right? Big deal around these parts....

Gerber career .911, Bryzgalov had career .912 but was 8x more expensive for this exercise.

Dropping Damphousse puts Samsonov and Derek Roy on the roster. Vinnie is 200 more points than the other two combined and gives you house money for jokinen which is another 500. He's expensive, but we're the only team that can use him. Juice has the same cost as Frycer who put up 330 in 415 nhl games, better ppg but Juice scored more total and both players are under the cap. Took the higher career points for filler. Oilers have a big black hole of historical offense that played between 40 and 70 games for us...

Actually disappointing the blues can only muster that many points when you start with a 2800+ point handicap over the rest of the field.

Adam Oates is 1420 points for $60
