Turbo deal is very good news. I am sure that Aho will make reasonable deal as well. He's smart guy and love ice hockey and winning more than money. Aho, Turbo, Svechnikov and Nino are all relatively young players. Maenalanen looking good as well. Team future looks very intresting. Canes office make good job right now. They have obviously clear plan what they are doing.

Pipo sounds more like a jimmy hat. For your pipo.

That's where the 'pay the pipa' thing comes from, etymologically.

I'm surprised at how team friendly that deal is.

He said something very interesting the day of the deal. He said, that signing the deal, in one sense relieved some pressure, but in another, it added a different type of pressure to live up to the belief the organization put in him.

They start beating this Lutheran work ethics to us from very young age.

Once you've been signed, you toil on and keep telling to yourself:

It’s alright, it’s alright
Ooh, baby, it’s alright, it’s alright alright now
Keep it right there, keep it right there
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
It’s alright, it’s alright

Even if he doesn't have Luther's work ethic, he has the diet down....:sarcasm:

I wrote this on the Trade board thread, but it might be better suited here.

Finnish players have a history of not liking lengthy negotiations and have often signed team friendly deals. It's prolly partly from our selfdepreciating nature and enjoying silence and calmness. Also, money isn't that important in Finland, since schools and healthcare are essentially free. I mean there is a cultural difference, because you don't need to get rich to provide for your childrens' tuition and such.
Ofcource there are exceptions.

Teuvo seems happy to be in Carolina. He also seems like he wants to get better. Aho and Teräväinen are having some sort of bromance which makes them both have a better career. Aho has talked about Teuvo's importance in settling in NHL also.

Finns are about the collective over individual.

Finns are about the collective over individual.
I have a theory about this that I developed while visiting Barcelona and Helsinki in the same week.

Southern Europeans are individualist, because the worst case scenario is that you end up sleeping on a Mediterranean beach.

Northern Europeans are collectivist, because the worst case scenario is that you freeze to death. Instantly. In September.

This observation was largely driven by the difference in quality between the hotels. Finnish hotels are magnificent.

Yeah but two finns are enough for the collective and four is starting to be a crowd. ;)

Finns are the happiest with a fellow finn in an environment with no other finns. Understanding languages weakens this axiom in foreign countries.

That´s why Carolina should go for Pulju. He shouldn´t cost too much right now and with Aho and TT as "big brothers" i think he will thrive on and of the ice.

Pulju is a nono. He is simply too intellectually challenged to understand hockey beyond his own physical capabilities. He is like that prison guard in alien3, 89 or smth like that.

Besides there is already a third Finn. With four it really starts to break down.

We might claim him off waivers when the time comes.

I'd rather pay one million for nothing, than get Pulju. Pulju will confuse the finns game. Teuvo prolly won't listen to him for more than a minute, while Aho will feel obligated to help his Pejorative Slured friend. Meanwhile Pulju eats his own snot that he digs straight from the nostril with his tongue. Then he gets tackled and sensationally bites his own tongue off.

Kekäläinen, speaking finnish, knew what he did when passing on Jesse P. And the reason is the same as I've said now. He's too damn dull.

Come on now. Yeah he is not a rocket scientist, i´ll give you that, but go watch some of his highlights when he is on, he makes some great plays. I think it´s mostly mental with him and not feeling at home in Edmonton. He and Aho are friends and team mates from the past and he couldn´t have a better mentor.

Besides, we know the physical part is there and Pulju´s got a big head. I´m sure Aho and others could help fill some of it up with hockey knowledge :]
