Nylander isn't ready for center duty yet. And idk if I'd have Edler over Larsson if the partner is Klingberg. 2 offensive-minded Dmen.

Unless Karlsson keeps up what he's doing.

What I meant was that very responsible center that slows down the game in the O zone and sets up other players. The typical Swedish center. Karlsson is like Rakell, a hardworking speedster with a goalscorer's touch. Very complete players, but very different to past generations.

Ah, yes, I agree.

I'll add that the one thing I love about Karlsson is that beyond all that his two-way game is fantastic, and he can play on the PK(which he is in Vegas), aka. the reason Columbus had him in the bottom 6.

What do you mean the media, who's NOT going bananas? This roster is frigging INSANE! When I saw the additions, all I could think of was this song to describe this team:

This team is so skilled, so defensively strong, such an offensive threat and so deep, both at defense and offense, that I would barely care who's in net? And we have a red hot Hellberg, combined with Nilsson refusing to give up. I'm slightly aroused.

Rakell - Zibanejad - Janmark are already gold class. Then we have Forsberg and Arvidsson put together with whoever, Backlund I guess, although I would almost suggest putting him on the 3rd line at this point. But with him as captain, that's never going to happen. Then we have Hörnqvist lurking as a golden roleplayer, on another line! And we get to scratch all the question marks.

And then we have a defensive line that is world class, that is an amazing blue line. I could go on for eternity.

Probably about half of the Swedish forwards on this team can play center. We could go Rakell-Zibanejad-Backlund-Janmark/Kempe as 1-2-3-4 C if we wanted.

But Bäckström might be the last center of his kind. The positions are more interchangeable these days with the way everybody skates.

Not well however, Forsberg and Rakell have been tried at center without much luck.

Rakell was drafted as one and has played there when needed for the ducks. PP1 would be so overstacked compared to PP2, though.
Have you seen him play center in the NHL? I have, it wasn’t really even close to what he is as a winger, in a bad way.

This team is really talented though.

It's impossible to put all of the best eggs in one basket, that's the comfort of this team right now. When you have to leave out someone who belongs there, you know you have luxury problems. You will have two very solid PP lines, however you put it. And something very good in every other composition of the game.

I think they are the worst. Especially when Renberg goes into full funeral mode. I like Jonas Andersson though.

Rickard Wallin is the best expert out there imo.
Jonas is a gem and IMO the best swedish expert out there. It's a shame that he doesn't get to see more action frequently.

I remember i believe 2 years ago in his first WJC when he was fairly new and i didn't really know how good of an expert he was. SVT had some sort of special show with Ray Ferraro, where they talked about the tournament. Just by listening to Jonas talking with Ray, you could tell just how much knowledge he had about the game and all the players in the tournament (no one else bothers really learning about the best prospects). Ray even looked a little surprised and got excited getting the chance to talk to a foreign expert who could formulate himself very well in english, and someone who could discuss things at a high intellectual level. Getting to watch the 2 talk was very entertaining. Jonas seems to be well informed no matter the hockey being played. Knows the NHL as well.

If you're gonna be involved in a big international tournament it should be your job to be aware of who all the good/great players are *cough TV4 cough*.. There are very few swedish experts that actually seems to know what they're talking about, especially when you add a bunch of NHLers to the mix (they only watch SHL on a daily basis).
Granqvist was good from the get go, i remember Wallin being pretty rusty with NHL and it's players when he first started off as an expert. Södergren is just atrocious no matter what.

where is everyone from in sweden? I am from Gävle, started getting mad interest in hockey after watching Peter Forsberg at WJC 1993. It was such an unreal sight.
Partille pöjk. Started following hockey for real after watching Frölunda - Luleå playoff series in '95. They almost killed each other out there and as a young kid that stuck with me to this day.

Well,... hasn't it happen before for the Swedes?

I really don't know. Maybe. You sometimes loose no matter what.

In any case, you usually take the best players you can get, and see where that gets you. I really doubt you are the kinda guy who says no to Aho, because nope... too skilled... destroys team play.

Or what about Tolvanen? A unproven offensive specialist. Personally I'm on the edge here if Finnish team really needs that guy? He might destroy our team play, we should opt for some grinder instead.

Could be. But at this point (losing to Canada&USA seems more likely than not) securing other than 4th spot is a long stretch.
so putting Tolvanen to top 6 spot won't tip the scale ( i think) versus neither Canada or USA.
