And wait two years on Zegras at 9? While Getzlaf retires and we Rely on Sam steel as the first line center? No thanks.

I mean you can trade the pick for a better C, if you're gung-ho on trading it.

TJ is more of a top-six winger than a 2C right now. He led our team in ES goals, which I think makes him very underrated by our own fanbase, but at the same time, he played most of the year with Kucherov, who stayed white hot until the playoffs, so I think you're overrating him here. Johnson is a good complementary player, but his value is nowhere near the #9 pick.

When you trade for players like Tyler Johnson, you do it to capitalize on your window, perhaps a closing one but is Anaheim's window even open? They should rebuild, not re-tool. Rakell is solid, but the rest of their forward core is getting ancient.

Brutal for the Ducks. Besides, Johnson propably doesn't waive his NTC.

Even if he did, his return would likely be worse than what Johansson was traded to Devils for (2rd + 3rd). Johansson had 56 points before being traded and was better than Johnson is now.

Ducks would be crazy to do it. He is pretty much a salary dump at this point. They would gladly take a 2nd rounder to get rid of him.

I guess you know your proposal is crap when every single poster tells you it is.

One side says HELL YA (unanimously) and laughs to themselves

The other side says WTF (unanimously) and shakes their collective heads

All neutral fans says: HUH???/SERIOUSLY???/YEAH- NO!!!LOL

OP- you got one wrong here pal... Back to the drawing board, I suggest

A 50 point Center signed under 6M is not a cap dump. That's just silly. Johnson's a good player. Not great, but not even close to being labeled as a cap dump.

How so? Anaheim gains a top 6 Center signed at a reasonable rate long term. Look at Columbus blue jackets trade for one year of Duchene. Top 6 centers don’t grow on trees as you can obviously see in the open market.

Kids only 28 signed to a good deal. And has proven playoff success as well as regular season.

Appreciate the post though. You posted nothing of your reasoning mate.

Thank giod you aren’t a real GM

Teams should never trade a top 10 pick for anyone 26 and older. In a cap league you need the cheaper salaries.

His value is more like a late 2nd given Tampa desperately needs to move salary

My grandma could be a 40 point scorer on that team. Johnson is one dimensional and undersized signed for 5 more years.

Does Tyler Johnson waive his no trade clause to leave tax free Florida for tax heavy California? He would be throwing millions away.
Not to mention... leaving one of the leagues best teams for one of the worst.
Not very realistic

They have an amazing core coming up.... Mahura, Larsson, Steel, Comtois, Lundestrom. Just need to get rid of Kesler and Perry, Getzalf is not a problem.

Real GM's are looking to win actual games
They probably aren't as hung up with the age thing like HF is

...and that would be a part of the rebuild, no? Not sure why they should acquire players in their late 20s, especially if it means giving up 1st rounder(s).

Why does Anaheim trade any picks right now? Their window is closed.

At the moment they have to try to ice a decent product to keep attendance up but otherwise it’s a soft rebuild until their dead weight is off the books.

Why not just compromise.

The Ducks have a second first rounder. It will be around #20. Why not just offer that.

I think both teams would still walk away happy.

Not us since we’re taking on another long term contract for a player we don’t need. Johnson is not a 2c and we don’t need more wingers.

Acquiring TJ would be fairly redundant with Henrique here. Ducks, barring injuries, should be pretty solid far as forwards next season with a nice mix of veterans, mid 20s guys and up-and-comers. What they could really use (and only thing they should be trading for) is another Top4 defensive RHD.

Good lord. OP claims to be a Ducks fan, but has a million trade threads open where the Ducks get screwed EVERY SINGLE TIME

It makes no sense at all, but he keeps doing it.
