Imagine being able to have both Hughes and Byram. :amazed:

... and Nico... and Zacha... and Smith...

Agree. I am not sure why posters think the Avs have to "go for it" this year. Their key players are not leaving after this year. Young players like Makar will only be getting better and prospects like Byram will be coming. The Avs are built for the long term.

They have to take advantage of the fact that the 2nd best player in the league is earning less then 7M$ per for the next 3 years. Does that mean their on the downside after those 3 years? Absolutely not, but they can add a major piece now while their cap situation is in their favour for the next couple of years.

There is very little incentive for Colorado to sell the farm when they can realistically contend with the roster they have.

Barring a bad slump or another major injury they would lowball us at every turn.

This is a case of you guys trying to force something for the sole purpose of it benefiting us more

Shero has a history of being a good trader. If we have to move Hall he needs to at least get a package comparable to what Mark Stone got last year.

Anything less... this season’s already hard enough to swallow.

Of course it is.

We all know there is no shot of this happening but we just like to discuss what-if scenarios.

It's nice to dream.

For that to happen you have to:

A) persuade Hall to agree to an extension with the other team
and
B) Find a GM who believes that Hall going forward is as valuable as Stone going forward. If you factor everything (injury history, playing style) it's going to be hard to sell.

One thing I haven’t seen anyone ever mention is who would they like to replace Hall long term?

We need a top6/3 goal scoring winger, more so if Hall leaves. Who is someone that could potentially be available?

Literally no one. Lol Browse - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

That Hall trade was a gem that you can't replicate in UFA.

A similar trade won't fall in our laps anytime soon. If we have the ability to keep him you do it.

Taylor Hall is a lot of things, but he is not a fool.

He has lived under a media microscope since he was 17 years old, and knows exactly what to say to the media, and exactly what not to say to the media. At. All. Times.

Hall wants out.

no words man, turning on the fans........ he really f***ed up in 3rd and then blames fans booing for their bad performance. Yeah, like that turnover had nothing to do with it.

Time to cut loose.

Thanks, maybe my interjection is unwanted by some but I actually find the NJ board reaction to be a bit more classy the the Oil board. Those who aren't agreeing with me here aren't doing so in a completely classless way like a few would on hf oil.

It makes me a bit ill to see what's happening in NJ. It has the similar bad vibes as what's been happening in Edm. And i for one believe it has a lot to do with buy in, culture and attitude. We've also blamed coach after coach after coach. It boils down to the players and the GM having a certain standard in how his players perform and carry themselves. For too long here we let our young 1st OVA picks (except Connor) have free reign to play irresponsible hockey. I did sincerely believe Hall was a negative influence in Edm and I just hope he isn't in NJ. I saw one game where Hischier and Hall were on a two on one and Hischier tried to get the pass through to Hall and failed. Hall immediately circled to the bench and angrily slammed his stick. You just can't do s*** like that. It would destroy a young player's pysche. I think it was Hischiers rookie year too. This is why i don't want Hall anywhere near our team.

The culture here was rotten... Ference summed it up well in the quote from the article... " They’d come and practice hard and there was a group of guys there that had like, it was too cool to try hard. Derogatory terms for trying too hard in practice. That’s the culture, right. ...... So your voice only goes so far with people that only respect how good your toe drag is and whether or not you’re out partying."

And Klefbom's specific quote... "Taylor has been our best player in recent years, but it’s also hard to tell what he has contributed. He never played his best games against the tougher teams, which we really needed it. However, he was fantastic when we met the little inferior teams". ... spoke volumes. It's something i had seen year in year out here and Klef basically confirmed it.

One way or another i'd like to see Hughes and Hischier etc do well. I hope for you guys Hall does turn it around or that Shero has the smarts to move him far away if you still have some version of the Oilers Hall. Just don't move him to Edm! I recall Shero had to have a serious sit down with Hall after the first season to straighten him out too eh. Is it worth it to have such a high maintenance player? Not at 10 mil i don't think.

As for the toe drag comment by Ference... he was clearly talking about Hall who would try like 3 toeys a game and i literally NEVER ONCE saw him successfully pull it off here. It was like give it up dude, you just do not have those kind of mitts. Even though a toey is basically a standard handle now in today's hockey.

I do not know if you are checking our Board out but Hall blamed the fans for booing tonight during our loss. I am sure you are surprised to hear he is acting this way:sarcasm:
