If he is moved at the deadline, he’ll be the best player to be moved at the TDL in what, a decade?

I’m not saying he’ll net the impossible but there will be a bidding war for his services.

Dont think Habs would trade 2020 1st rounder because the draft is in Montréal.

I don't think the Devils would care. I'm not a Devils fan, but I imagine that any offer for Hall that involves a 1st is 2020 or bust.

Disagree. I think the Devils would jump at a 2021 1st and it would be the Habs who would be leery. Any team pushing after Hall is a playoff team, and likely has a good shot at winning a round or two. That pick should be at least 20+ if not 28+. We've seen how fast stuff goes sideways, even a contender can be a lottery team in the blink of an eye. That 2021 pick could easily turn into top 10 and a lottery ball away from top 3.

Habs have already shown they are open to moving that 2020 pick despite hosting. If Hall was available and they were interested, I think they'd be much more comfortable moving that pick instead of the 2021. Too much risk.

He’s not on a whole other than Stone who got a good but not incredible package.

They’ll get a 1st and a quality prospect with maybe an average top 9 forward and that’s about it:

If Edmonton does make a play I just hope we don’t get bent over in a trade, The Chia years of hockey management were terrible and still give me shivers to this day. it would be nice to sign him and still have enough to work on our bottom six.

It seems unrealistic to expect more, at least based on the deadline trades that we have seen over the last few decades.

Who cares what happened last year, two years ago, three years ago, etc...

The price will be set according to the demand of what teams are looking for this year. Paul Gaustad landed a 1st and with that logic, every bottom #6 face off specialist would net a 1st?

If a team is a top left winger away from being a legit contender, they’ll pay whatever they feel is reasonable, not what was set last year.

So past history serves no purpose in terms of providing relevant examples in this case? This seems to be rather convenient logic.

someone will offer a better player/prospect than Jost, I would almost guarantee it.

I guess it would depend on somewhat on your view of Jost. If you have a relatively negative view of him, perhaps it would be easy to achieve a better return in your mind. Personally, I don't see Colorado legitimately offering Jost, as Sakic and Co. seem to have a lot of faith in him, but I also do not see Colorado interested in Hall generally at the TDL. I am sure some teams will have interest, but I would think that they would want to sign him to an extension and I believe that it remains unclear if that can happen at that point in time.

Mark Stone and him are pretty equal player and I'm the biggest Hall fan on this forum.

I’d pay quite a bit from the Avs for Hall, he’s the right age and would give the Avs a very strong second line of Hall Kadri Burakovsky to go along with the top line, really any combo of Mackinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, Hall, and Kadri would yield a great top 6.

I also think Hall’s playoff potential is very high and that he’s being underrated due to playing on bad teams his whole career. This was a guy who arguably was a better junior playoff performer than Mackinnon, the two of them are probably the most dominant playoff players to be drafted in the last little while (Marner was also great).

I would also take the risk and sign him long term, there’s a lot of debate on the Avs board as to whether Hall is the correct guy to go after but I think he would fit in very nicely. Jost + 1st is the likely starting point, I think one more solid piece like Kaut would be hard for other teams to beat.

It can serve as a benchmark but it doesn't really mean much if two teams are battling it out to acquire the same player. Again, Gaustad landed a 1st round pick, Boyle landed a 2nd, Muzzin a 1st and Hall is light years better then the players I've mentionned.

Again, it can you a good idea of what's going to happen but if Vegas was the only serious bidder for Stone, Ottawa couldn't maximize their return... It's all about offer and demand.
