4 points for Dureau through 2 periods tonight. He was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday.

Niko Huuhtanen

22-23 led the Sm-Liiga in rookie scoring and rookie goals,

Now 23-24 season, in his 2nd season, 3rd most goals in the Sm-Liiga, 6th most points.
- 4 points behind the league leader

39 points in 38 games so far.
(7 goals, 16 points in his last 10 games)

17 goals, 30 points last season
pace for 24 goals, 62 points this season.
(his pace in goals from last 10 games is much higher what his season goal pace)

With his current pace, he can win the Sm-Liiga goal and point scoring titles.
as a 2nd year 20 year old player, who was picked last in the 2021 Draft...

Think about that for a second...
one could argue that Huuhtanen is on the same level as Howard in terms of best Lightning prospect. So excited to see what this kid can do in Syracuse once his skating gets a tad better

I like Bouchard's energy a lot, that's what I'd want to see from a coach after a big win.

Huuhtanen could possibly even have a higher ceiling but his floor is much lower. With his size, physical play and ability to score goals he could be a top line stud for many years. Problem is his skating. If it doesn't improve he may not be able to keep up with top 6 forwards and might not work out. He could just be a PP specialist type. He could also find a team that plays a slower game that works for him. Howard's skating and skill should allow him to be a serviceable top 6 winger, he may never be more than a 20-40-60 guy.

Orlando doesn't play again until Sunday the 21st. Syracuse might call up Dureau and Halverson to get some minutes.

Evan Fitzpatrick is still on IR. Nothing to update there.

I sort of don't know how to write about OSB at the moment. I've been so disappointed by them for so long, that I kind of need to rewire my brain with them being second in the south division (both by points and point percentage).

OSB pulled off an 8-game winning streak, beginning about a month ago, which did the bulk of the lifting. Atlanta started off with a similar streak to start the season, and they're in the basement now. Norfolk either last season or the one before did the same thing. The ECHL can be fickle.

Goaltending looks pretty good. Both Halverson and Ellis are near the top of the league in save percentage. However, my confidence in them isn't really all that high. There are occasional lapses in consistency, and neither goalie really steals games. They haven't needed to. I need to see some more situations play out. Come from behind victories, one goal games, etc.

I'd rather go with Ellis in the playoffs than Halverson right now, IMO. At the beginning of the season, I'd have gone with Halverson. It can change.

Realistically, how much better 6 on 3 is over 5 on 3 anyway?

I'm always down for trying some new stuff. But I also think that's really dumb.
