It’s too bad Joe Thornton doesn’t play LW. Would slot nicely beside Krejci for a year. Maybe force Krejci to shoot more too.

I believe he actually played some LW in San Jose last year as a way to use him higher up in the line-up.

As some said here back around the deadline, he'll never be back in Boston as there is still some bad blood there. Rumor was he was going to go and play in Europe (likely the Swiss league) so as to get a head start on the upcoming NHL season. Sadly given the lack of interest in him at the deadline, it may not matter and we may have seen the last of Jumbo Joe in the NHL.

Bjork+ is what I'd like to see the Bruins package to upgrade on D. Solid cost-controlled winger that helps a team looking to cut costs. Hang onto JDB. Don't really see a future for Bjork on this team. Skilled player but soft & not a good finisher. Struggled in the playoffs. Bruins need to be picking on these small market teams that are gonna feel the pinch.
Great post and I agree, Bjork is one of those players that has potential, but always leaves you wanting more. His salary is not bad at all and still young, so package him with some other cheap contract like zboril say and small market teams or teams looking for cheaper contracts may offer something decent in return.

Apparently Vancouver and Boston were confirmed to be talking. With Van looking for some defense help, I'm wondering if Zboril+ could bring in Virtanen. Could bring a little size to the third line with more offensive upside than anyone else in our system.

I think that move, Krejci flipped for a 1st, and a quality FA dman and were in a decent spot.

Marchand-Bergeron-Pasta
DeBrusk-Coyle-Kase
Bjork-Studnicka-Virtanen
Kuraly-Frederic-Wagner
Lindholm

FA-Mac
Gryz/Lauzon-Carlo
Chara-Lauzon/Gryz
Vaak

Rask
Halak

That lineup will win a lot of games. They can look to add a veteran defense and maybe another wing to replace Bjork at the deadline if he's still as unproductive offensively as I except he'll be.

I’m looking at this in two ways. I don’t know who agrees with me or not.

Alex Pietrangelo- In. Carlo gets moved for a top 6 forward. One that is established and not over 26 years old.

Option 2 is Taylor Hall - In. Debrusk gets moved for a good defence man not over 27 years old

Option 3 .. rebuild by trading Tuukka, DK , and whoever has value.

Everything else doesn’t move the needle. It just doesn’t. IMO one of the big two in F/A must be signed. ( Hall or AP) It’s clear as day. They have the space. It’s having the balls now. Because if Toronto gets AP they become a better team just with leadership alone.

The chances of either being between a 1-10 of signing here are

Hall ...7
AP ...2

I don’t agree he sucks. He is a great skater and at 6’3” 210ish he brings so much needed size. While he isn’t the nastiest player, he has no problem laying the body. His defensive play is solid and (IMO) would be a good compliment to McAvoy.

I am also ok with adding to DeBrusk to get a true top end defenseman!

I have to disagree. He is not a top pairing guy. I live 20 mins from NYC so I've watched a fair bit of him over the years and his defensive play is anything but solid. He's inconsistent with his physicality as well. NYR moved him for a reason.

That being said, I wouldn't mind him next to Carlo on the 2nd pairing. I think they would compliment each other well.

Nurse any good? Would he fit with McAvoy?
My opinion he's very over-rated here. Is he one tough cookie who will stick up for his teammates, no doubt but he gets caught out of position a whole lot defensively. He's still young enough and with the right tutoring he could become a top defender but he's not there yet. If I could land any Oiler d-man its klefbom without a doubt.

My concern with Nurse is hockey iq(if we are looking at 1st pair partner for McAvoy)

Physical beast no doubt and a great skater

And we all thought Backes was too slow for the top 6. Jumbo is even slower these days if that is possible.
Agreed but his IQ and skill are much better than Backes. I mean Im not saying go get him by no means but big Joe is still effective and way more than Backes. He may only be a one-zone player right now is all. LOl

If there was no offsides, he'd be perfect haha

Couldn't agree more his defensive positioning is terrible at times. He becomes a detriment in his own way to often.

This might be out of line a bit, but I see Nurse as a larger, better version of Connor Clifton- does some nice things out there but is reckless in his decisions and it can be costly.

Why trade DeBrusk for an offensive defensemen when there are plenty on the free agent market? The Bruins need a top 4 LD that is good defensively.

I assume us geting Fleury would mean we trade Rask to get our hands on a 1:st round pick. But if we do, why not just go after Markström and trade DeBrusk for something of value (a 2:nd is not ok for DeBrusk - I´d demand a top 15 pick this year easily for him)!?!

Sorry, that's Haydn Fleury the LHD (7th Overall in 2014 draft) 6'3" and in my opinion the best Hurricane D against the Bruins these playoffs.

with the rumored names coming back for Debrusk better off just re-signing him.

If the trade for example is for Skej I'm sitting out the season as a fan. If it is for Fleury or Bean (preferably) + 2nd or something along those lines and than Don signs a Hall or Hoffman than I'm excited. If Debrusk some how returns Darnell Nurse than we are back!

This is what I'm hoping takes place for the Bruins and a trade for Virtanen to replace DeBrusk on the third line.

I think signing Dadonov makes as much sense. He would fill an area of need without subtracting from a different position. He’d also be cheaper than Hall. Even if we signed Hall and traded Debrusk, there would still be an unknown on 2nd line RW.

He's 31 and that scares me quite a bit. Hell, even Hall has me a little worried. I think my bias is coming through fearing yet another Hayes, Beleskey, Backes, Nash, etc. signing where the guy signs and declines and is instantly a bad contract on the roster just breaking 20 goals if we're lucky.

The difference with Dadonov is that although he is 31 he is a pretty low mileage 31 with 5 KHL seasons before coming over and prior to that not a lot of grueling AHL/NHL games. If he could be had on a four year deal or so, I wouldn't think that age would be a problem.

Plus he's not an injury magnet like someone we'll not name.
