Another reason some don't want to attend games I suppose. After the Burgess fiasco, we have a team that deserves more but we all know the issues.

Do we think Dario is dragging his feet about making meaningful change because of the arena debate that is ongoing? Is he trying to make a point?
As an outsider what is the arena debate :help:

Everyone just has to call Miranda at the Wolves office and complain that we need not ushers who are inexperienced but security especially for playoffs. They hire them for events why not for hockey. Sections 6 and 5 are flooded with these idiots.
Ya I’m in five now and it’s brutal.

City council cannot get it going , small group is fighting it along with the Casino. Sudbury is a very dysfunctional city, has been that way for years. The rest of the province see's us as a french mining town with choice of vehicles quads and snow machines with choice of dress camouflage and plaid.

Lemaire is not ready and that set the tone. Yes way too many turnovers and sloppy undisciplined play. Not playing focused the last two games.

As an outsider what is the arena debate :help:

Ok so it's a long story, and the way i tell it might upset some people, but I'll try to give an unbiased take:

About 2 years ago council passed a motion that we basically intend to fund a new arena. Some research was done, proposals were submitted, and 6 months later council voted on which proposal to proceed with. The KED (Kingsway Entertainment District) won over the Downtown proposal. The city to this day kinda remains divided 50/50 on this, and the pro-downtown crowd continues to protest the way this was carried out. Our team owner (Dario Zulich) owns the KED land and the companies that won the bids to do the work on the new building. A bunch of anti-KED opponents have since and continue to this day to throw wrenches into the plans and everything remains delayed.

I am personally among a large silent slight majority (IMO) who don't really care where the arena goes, but just want a new building. Most of us in the boat just want them to end the nonsense and start moving forward with actually working on the building. Several councillors and other political figures continue to appeal and protest.

Opinion time now:

I find a key difference between the pro-KED and pro-Downtown crowd is that the pro-KED people I have talked to are a bit more similar to us neutrals and would accept an arena downtown over no arena at all, but since the vote already went in the KED's favour, they just want the city to get a move on with it. The pro-Downtown crowd is a bit more dangerous IMO, as it is divided between those who simply prefer downtown over KED, and those who have a "Downtown or bust" mentality and would prefer no building at all to the KED location. These are the people who are most active within the debate and who pose a seriously threat to the arena ever happening and Sudbury Wolves franchise remaining IMO.

And that ends Lemaire's season lmao (unless they play games where they're already locked into a certain spot and the game literally means nothing)

I don’t know where you’re getting the idea that the franchise is at play here. You ever hear Zulich threaten to move it? He told me personally he’d never give up his plans for the arena. Crowds have been up and will continues to increase down the stretch. Team isn’t going anywhere. Arena will be built, stall tactics can’t last forever. Just build the damn thing. Some Sudbury whiners and dinosaurs must accept that progress and change are inevitable, even here.

Now about the game, I hope those of you who were clamouring for Lemaire to get more starts watched the game and now realize what I’ve said repeatedly; Lemaire is simply not ready, it’s Ukko or bust like it or not.
Not a great game but they found a way. Too many turnovers, the powerplay continues to stuggle and is not able to make a difference. Also what’s with all the stupid, selfish and unnecessary penalties again this year! There needs to be accountability and that has to be cleaned up. Carson and Hutcheson looked good and the Q made the kind of difference we’ll grow used to him making.

Agree as stated above on Lemaire. I dont see any other team playing their back up. Have you seen McGrath lately playing for Niagara.. and they have had some games that he could have gotten the start and they continually go with Dhillon. What were we thinking last night? That put us in a very bad position and yes the team wasn't great but Lemaire's goals were all stoppable imo.

Thanks, Hope it gets done where ever.
But if I had a choice it would be downtown as here in Oshawa they built it downtown and it rejuvenated it.

The large silent majority won’t use the new arena much, if at all. They should care where the arena is built because the burden of costs less revenues will be paid by increased property taxes. Debate on this matter is good. Make the decision based on (maximizing revenue from the user and nearby businesses that will benefit from event traffic); and, make the best use of the opportunity to repair/build new infrastructure necessary for the little expected growth over the next 30 years.

Best place for the arena is behind the South Ridge Mall, on the Baycar Steel site. There is about 27 acres there, ready, all the roads are in, sewer system is in, hotels, restaurants, and a mall waiting to be filled with new tenants. It also has South, East and West highway access, LU is right down the road, Ramsay and Nepawin lakes right there, three banks all walking distance away and its not next door to the city dump. Plus it is across the street from the main hotel used by OHL teams.

Take a walk down down Sudbury and you be the judge. Snow banks, sidewalks a mess, meters you can't reach, parking, and if you happen to find a meter to go for dinner and then a game you are rewarded with a parking ticket AFTER THE GAME. Keep it as far away from the city inf structure as you can. A side note, the city is cut in half by the train tracks. Enjoy sitting in traffic at minus 30 after an event as the train Slowly makes it's way.
