Why wouldn't this have been done in Sudbury in front of the Sudbury fans when the Pete's were in town? Maybe because the Wolves didn't have the foresight and common sense to honour Pancel and after comments made in the Sudbury Star and HF Boards about how it was not right to Not honour him, they are simply trying to save face. (oh we didn't honour him in Sudbury because we were planning on honouring him there all along  )

I could see this as being true, did the Wolves honour their other OA's at all?

They did at the last home game with a video "tribute" of Corbett and Silk and gave each player a framed jersey, plaque and a 50" TV. No mention of Pancel during hte ceremony.

After the game, Pancel stuck around while the Wolves saluted the fans and then the Wolves players went to him to congratulate him on his career.

The three stars for the game were Corbett, Silk and Pancel.

I have to compliment the Sudbury Wolves organization on the classy move that they made at the game in Peterborough against the Peterborough Petes yesterday. The Petes honoured their overages at the start of the game with a video tribute. When that was over Wolves captain Brody Silk presented former Wolf and current Pete, Nathan Pancel a plaque for his service to the Wolves. I thought is was a classy move. The ownership does have some class with this move.

The gesture was not allowed to happen in Sudbury when we paid tribute to our overagers at the last home game. Everyone thought it was a cheap shot by the owners because Pancel would only return to start the season if he was guaranteed a trade on or before the deadline. Could this gesture have been orchestrated by a second party? possibly new owners down the road? The present owners of this club would never be behind anything that would resemble a classey move.

Could never see the Wolves leaving Sudbury, where would the team go?

Team's staying put and I know fans from the Sault and North Bay would fight to keep the team in Northern Ontario IF there was any doubt...

Have to agree, where would the Wolves be relocated to? Can't think of any city currently able to have the Wolves relocated to......any ideas?

Sudbury has one of the biggest population amongst cities with an OHL team. It'd be foolish to move them.

The fans have proven in the past that even with a mediocre team, they'll draw a decent crowd each night. The only difference with the past couple of seasons is that fans have FINALLY grown tired of this ownership's shenanigans.

This is awesome and what I love about JR hockey.

....prediction....

....when it comes to Sudbury.....same linear equation.....SS=DD.....as with the debacle that was our so-called one-site hospital, the never-ending, four-laning fiasco etc.....so it goes for a new "barn"...which is exactly what we'll get without new ownership/leadership .... woofer..p.s...North Bay will get the new arena they so deserve before we ever will and good for them when it happens!!!.....

draft pick

Why can't we pick the most skilled and creative scorer for once. Our teams have struggled to put the puck in the net for many years.Levin is rated as the best player and should be our pick. Hopefully their will be an announcement of a new ownership group and they will be in charge of making this pick and others in the upcoming draft.Levin will create excitement similar to Tolchinsky from the Sault and will give us a player to go to the games to cheer on.

Word on the street is that McCloud is sudburys pick and will go 1st. Vilardi 2nd

Pretty sure McLoed and Vilardi will be playing with their brothers in Missasauga and Flint. Pastuov likely would not report; so, Sudbury's pick should be need (Tippet) or best player available (Levin)

Don Mills Flyers vs. Toronto Marlboros in the OHL cup finals on Monday. On National television Sportsnet1 has the game 7:30pm. Good chance to see play potential top-10 picks in #71 Levin and #25 Neumann on Don Mills and #9 McLeod on Toronto.

CHL Import draft - Wolves picking 3rd overall. Two of the top 98 prospects for the draft are C/LW Dmitri Sokolov from Russia and RD Adam Tilander from Sweden. Both players have size and are extremely skilled. As much as Sudbury needs immediate help on defense, it would be unreal if the Wolves landed Sokolov. Sokolov centering with Levin on either wing on the Wolves top line next season would be magic. They would be the Wolves two most skilled forwards next season hands down. Sudbury needs an infusion of new top end talent and these two fit the bill.

Getting a top end '98 born player in the import draft could make for a great rookie class. Probably, the best that I could remember.
Can imports (Jenys) be traded in the off season after one year in the OHL?
