Would be pretty awesome if true...wouldn't be surprised if it's not though.

Makes this whole saga pretty funny: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=341621

"He's (Subban) a guy that's come in the league and hasn't earned respect," Richards told the Team 990 radio station after the game. "It's just frustrating to see a young guy like that come in here and so much as think that he's better than a lot of people. You have to earn respect in this league. It takes a lot. You can't just come in here as a rookie and play like that. It's not the way to get respect from other players around the league.

"Hopefully someone on their team addresses it, because, uh, I'm not saying I'm going to do it but something might happen to him of he continues to be that cocky."

Something might happen? Indeed...perhaps a Norris.

I'm not happy with this because $$$

That really makes little sense.

Paying an elite d-man money is par for the course.

Norris or not, he was getting paid as one of the best d-men in the league. Now, it's official, and he may get a slight bump, but again that's a good thing because it means he was the best in the league this year. Thus, it's money well spent.

Also, Bergevin should never have been so stubborn on that bridge deal (his only blip imo so far). We could have had Subban signed at a discount. Short term gain for long term pain. His next contract will cost the Canadiens.

PK definitely deserved it. Happy Letang didn't win it, especially when you take into consideration his defensive game.

More fear mongering. Subban is going to get what he is worth no matter what, and it's not like the club has lost control of the player or something important has happened.

And if Subban doesn't follow up with an encore performance next year will he be on the slide and worth less? No, he'll be paid like a top defenseman in any case.

In this case, unlike Price, the club will be paying for actual performance and accomplishment and not potential and disappointment.

Who cares about money. And who says he would've done just as good with a huge contract... That worked out so well for Myers after all...

Last Hab player to win this is Chelios..

****ing incredible talent.

I remember after the 2007 draft defending him since there was a report saying he was really weak physically. Great to see his career develop so quickly and I never would have expected him to become this good.

of course PK will cost a big contract.
after the year he just had!!! 6 years at 6mil per before the norris? 5 year 5-5.5 mil per. Does anybody think he will sign for 10 years at 1.6 per????? just to give the habs a hometown discount.
of course he was to get his 5- 5.5 mil as promised to him by MB last fall if he proved his worth. well he did and did it BIG TIME. HE IS worth a big contract and that it.

People worrying about paying a ****ing Norris winner should worry more about the extra cash we give to guys like Gionta and Gorges. Cut right there and you've got your money for PK.

Can't wait for Gorges to talk about his professionalism now... Or Gionta to whine/cry about Subban always being there to sign autographs.

Especially the Senators fans, they are unbearable. Even some Leafs and Bruins fans are giving PK credit, but Sens fans are pulling out all sorts of excuses.

I hate them more than Bruins fans now.

At least Bruins fans have something to be cocky about, they have a great team and a recent Cup. They are also Original Six.

The Senators have done nothing of note in their existence. There is nothing for that fanbase to grasp on to except small pitiful victories. Their arrogance is mind boggling. Complete inferiority complex.

and ridic expectations, mostly from the fans though.

LOL @ earl the troll bringing up price any chance he gets.

When people are afraid that a Norris Trophy hurts the team from a contract negotiation point of view it's apparent they need reminders of how NOT to negotiate a contract.

When people defend mediocrity and are scared about the consequences of SUCCESS it's frightening to think what this fanbase is morphing to.

My autographed PK jersey just went up in value.
